In short:We are building out an internal Learning platform and consolidating many current learning systems into one. We need a UX Designer to map out our journey and create meaningful stories based upon data, behaviour and the company's requirements.


  • UX – particularly helping us to understand existing user journeys, identifying painpoints and help to understand how we can tackle those with the new vendor
  • Ambiguity – be ok with the unknown, be self driven but also help to rally the troops in the right direction – so good leaderships skills
  • Experience working on bigger digital transformation programmes before
  • Understand how to draw personas
  • Strengths mainly in UX but is able to lend their hand to research when needed

We are undergoing a comprehensive overhaul and transformation of our learning platforms and experience. It is essential that we understand our colleagues' needs and our future business strategy to ensure we develop or acquire the most appropriate learning solutions. And this is where you come in!


Our current areas of focus are:

· Lifecycle of a product, from development to ranging in stores, and responsible waste of surplus stock

· Stock, service, and security operations within our stores

· Colleague lifecycle, capability and development

· Internal communications and colleague networks



About the role


As a Senior UX Designer, you will:

  • Lead on large and small projects from start to finish, redefining complicated colleague experiences into simple and intuitive solutions.
  • Own the end-to-end design process from understanding the problem space and prioritising opportunities, through to exploring potential solutions, prototyping and validating with users.
  • Champion human-centered design with your stakeholders and the wider business. Help other disciplines understand the value design can bring to our products.
  • Work within and across Agile squads to design, develop and improve the user experience across our digital products.
  • Work in partnership with Product Managers to understand and define user problems and to build testable hypotheses that improve the user experience.
  • Work with UX researchers to conduct discovery and design validation research with users, including activities such as user interviews, A/B testing, usability testing and surveys.
  • Collaborate with different disciplines. You will work closely with UI designers, researchers, engineers, product managers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to explore, build and deliver designs.
  • Use quantitative data and partner with the analytics team to inform your work.
  • Promote and produce design executions that use inclusive design principles and align with W3C accessibility guidelines.
  • Use and promote data-driven decision making within your work, and when measuring the impact of your achievements.
  • Facilitate workshops with business stakeholders and user groups.
  • With support from UI designers in the team, use Figma and the Digital Design System to create UI designs and prototypes.
  • Deliver valuable, high-quality, and consistent work without sacrificing speed by using our Digital Design System and its standardised foundations, components, and patterns.
  • Collaborate with the design system team to evolve the design system based on user needs.
  • Provide feedback to others in your team to help others improve their impact in their role and on our users.
  • Work with the Design Manager to cultivate a positive, supportive, and inclusive team culture.
  • Opportunity to line manage other designers and help with their learning and development.


About you


To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Multiple end-to-end project UX design experience.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating experience in design thinking methodologies and expertise across web, responsive and native apps.
  • Passion for solving business and user problems while balancing all facets of a user experience, including strategy and research, information architecture, interaction design and accessibility.
  • Detailed understanding of the end-to-end iterative design process including how to develop and use design research, journey mapping, wire-framing, prototyping, and user testing to achieve human-centered design solutions.
  • Proficiency with current industry design and collaboration tools such as Figma and Miro.
  • Proficiency in interaction design for web (desktop and mobile) and native applications.
  • Experience working with design systems.
  • Ability to use both quantitative and qualitative insight to inform decision-making.
  • Experience of designing with accessibility in mind and meeting WCAG 2.1 level AA.
  • Experience at carrying out user research, including interviews, observation, and usability testing.
  • Experience collaborating closely with multiple disciplines including product and engineering.
