Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Group BI & Reporting Lead to join our Group Technology team in Milton Keynes.

In this role, you will lead the Group Reporting Engineering team and drive the development of a Centre of Excellence for corporate and business-critical reporting across Connells Group. You will be responsible for shaping how executive and operational reporting is designed, developed and governed, ensuring critical business intelligence is delivered through the Fabric Group Data Platform with clear ownership, strong controls and consistent standards.

This role combines people leadership, delivery leadership and strategic stakeholder engagement. Working closely with the Data Director, Product Manager, Delivery Manager and other capability leads, you will play a pivotal role in maturing reporting practices, enhancing data governance and delivering high-impact reporting that enables informed decision-making across the Group. Strong capabilities in data storytelling are essential, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights for senior stakeholders and executive audiences.

We offer a hybrid working arrangement with a minimum 1 day per week in our Milton Keynes office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery practices required to establish a Centre of Excellence for corporate and critical reporting.
  • Act as the senior subject matter expert for corporate and critical BI, defining and embedding best practice for report engineering, semantic modelling, metric design, visual standards and release governance on the Fabric Group Data Platform.
  • Own the service quality, resilience and control environment for critical reporting products, ensuring incidents, data quality issues and root causes are managed effectively with clear accountability, remediation and compliance with agreed SLAs.
  • Lead the delivery of corporate and critical reporting and analytics through the Fabric Group Data Platform, embedding governance, stewardship and ownership for critical metrics, datasets and reports, with particular focus on executive-level reporting needs and strategic data storytelling.

Team Responsibilities:

  • Owns the Group Reporting Designs, and gold-layer data products and semantic models.
  • Promotes the use of Agile report development methodologies
  • Ensures the quality of reporting produced
  • Support strategic projects, including those where tier-1 corporate reporting and dashboard products are required
  • Undertake proactive monitoring and react to escalations from other IT teams
  • Supporting members of the team to transition from operational and BAU reporting to high-value strategic data product development.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience in leading and developing technical teams.
  • Hands-on experience with data modelling, PowerBI, SQL, Python and/or Spark.
  • Proven experience implementing, managing and supporting strategic reporting solutions in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated product mindset, with a track record of delivering measurable business value.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience developing iterative solutions.
  • Current knowledge of industry trends, tools and best practices within BI, analytics and reporting.
  • Highly collaborative, with a partnership-driven approach.
  • Proactive and accountable, taking ownership of issues through to resolution.
  • Comfortable operating across both legacy and modern technology environments.
  • Passionate about driving improvements across people, processes and technology.
