Our Rating team provides rating advice to a broad range of clients including landlords, occupiers, investors, and developers. You will be tasked with supporting the occupier team and building on existing market success. You will have the tenacity and ability to learn new skills, develop new business and provide support to Directors on high profile and complex cases.

Key Responsibilities

  1. To work with prestigious occupational clients and to provide bespoke rates appeal via check, challenge & appeal, provide temporary occupation advice to a variety of clients.
  2. To manage and grow your own client base and case load with a view to taking on more responsibility with increased experience.
  3. Developing excellent business relationships with new and existing clients.
  4. To assist with and provide rating advice to developer and landlord clients through all stages of the development cycle including deletion / RV appeals, completion notices and mitigation strategies.
  5. Use robust quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess client situations and devise recommended strategies and solutions.
  6. To prepare & present at Valuation Tribunal creating all procedural documents including challenge documents.
  7. Ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships across the wider CBRE network and to develop relationships with key CBRE service lines including Agency, Investment and Development to promote the team and leverage opportunities.
  8. Support Directors to innovate processes, products and services to drive efficiencies and effectiveness, and to stay abreast of legislative and market developments.
  9. Business Development - Identifies additional cross selling revenue by exploring client needs. May have individual revenue growth targets; understands the business development process and develops ideas and relationships that may result in new clients in either their own or another area of the business.
  10. Support proposals and pitches and market-facing material e.g. Thought Leadership.
  11. Deliver workshops, seminars to CBRE internal teams on Business Rates related legislation.
  12. Contributes to the development of more junior members of the team through role modelling behaviour and feedback and providing support as required, proactively works with their manager to create a medium-term career plan; takes responsibility for seeking out development opportunities.

Person Specification/Requirements

  1. Preferably MRICS qualified with at least 1 year PQE Rating experience.
  2. Experience in providing rating advice and negotiating appeals.
  3. Detailed knowledge of rating legislation and case law.
  4. Good general surveying and inspection skills.
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  6. Commercially astute with an entrepreneurial attitude to business development.
  7. Proactive with the ability to work autonomously and co-ordinate tasks efficiently to ensure deadlines are met.
  8. Accurate with exceptional attention to detail.
  9. Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple priorities.
  10. Confident and assertive where required.
  11. Understands and appreciates the importance of using discretion.
  12. Team player who works effectively with colleagues and clients.
  13. Good IT skills (Word, Excel, MS Outlook) familiarity with Rating software Riverlake and Analyse beneficial.
