Power BI Reports Writer

We are currently looking for a Power BI Reports Writer to support one of our central government clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background of delivering excellent reporting and thorough understanding and experience of using Microsoft tools.

The role will involve:

Designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI data models, reports, and dashboards using Power BI Service and Report Server.
Designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI paginated reports.
Extracting, transforming, and loading data using Power Query and other ETL tools.
Creating dynamic and engaging visualizations.
Gathering requirements from stakeholders and translating them into technical specifications.
Ensuring data accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulations and standards.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to share insights and best practices.
Providing Power BI training and support to upskill the internal teams.
Staying up-to-date with the latest Power BI features and best practices.

Experience and Knowledge

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8 years' relevant experience.
Experience in the design of Power BI reports / dashboards and the underlying semantic model, working with stakeholders to understand requirements and present data in a way that provides meaningful insights
Experience in the use of cloud-based (in particular Microsoft) data management tools and services.
Excellent analytical skills with a highly structured, organised, and meticulous approach that can be evidenced from previous experience
Desirable experience in Finance relating to financial instruments e.g. Bond and Money Markets
Knowledge of specific industry regulations and reporting standards.

Skills

Proficiency in Power BI tools and technologies.
Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing, and data governance principles.
Experience working with DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and SQL.
Experience with data visualization and storytelling techniques.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Adaptability to changing business requirements and technologies.
Technically proficient and up-to-date with how technology can be applied to deliver operational efficiencies and reduce risk e.g. automation
