Pogust Goodhead is passionate about championing justice for the victims of wrongdoing by large corporations. The firm is at the cutting edge of international consumer claims, including historic settlements in the Volkswagen NOx Emissions Group Litigation in May 2022 and the victims of the British Airways Data Breach in 2021.

Pogust Goodhead is also a leader in environmental litigation. In July 2022 the firm secured a landmark, unanimous judgment from the Court of Appeal that allows over 700,000 victims of the Fundão Dam disaster, Brazil’s worst ever environmental disaster, to seek redress against the world's largest mining company, BHP, in the Courts of England and Wales. We were proud to be confirmed as winners of the Litigation Boutique firm of the year prize at The Lawyer Awards 2023, and were also name Boutique Law Firm of the Year at the British Legal Awards 2023, too.

As one of the world’s leading class action law firms, our mission is to level the playing field between individuals and businesses and large corporations. We recognise that there can be substantial barriers to justice for consumers, residents, victims, small business owners, and investors when weighed up against the financial resources of multinational corporations.

We are looking for a sharp, SQL-savvy BI Developer who can own the full reporting and analytics lifecycle on our end-to-end Azure analytics stack. You will transform legal, financial and operational data into actionable dashboards, automated reports and deep-dive analyses that drive efficiency, compliance and profitable growth across the firm.

You will also be involved in Legal Data work, creating Quantification models and ensuring our Client data is accurate and presentable to the Courts.

What You’ll Do

  • Data Modelling & Transformation: Support the Data Engineering team to understand business requirements and datasets; getting highly involved in data modelling activities.
  • Dashboard & Report Development: Design, develop and maintain intuitive Power BI dashboards and paginated reports that surface KPIs for fee-earners, partners and corporate functions.
  • Advanced SQL & DAX: Write elegant, performance-tuned SQL (T-SQL) and DAX to drive calculations, complex measures and ad-hoc investigations.
  • Deep-Dive Analysis: Partner with Business Services (Finance, HR, Marketing) and Case teams to frame analytical questions, explore data, and deliver clear narratives and recommendations.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implement data-validation rules, lineage documentation (Unity Catalog / Purview) and promote best practices for secure, compliant data use.
  • Lead data modelling workshops and mentor junior team members on best practises and emerging trends in BI and analytics.
  • Stakeholder Enablement: Upskill non-technical colleagues via workshops, dashboard walk-throughs and documentation so insights are understood and adopted.

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

  • Expert-level SQL for modelling, optimisation and troubleshooting (window functions, CTEs, performance tuning).
  • Proven track record creating Power BI (or Tableau) dashboards used daily by senior business stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical approaches, then communicate results clearly (storytelling & visual design).
  • Comfortable with Delta Lake / Lakehouse concepts, incremental ETL and Star Schema or Kimball methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud data platforms, especially within the Azure ecosystem.
  • Experience in designing and documenting Data Models utilised within BI Reporting.
  • Strong understanding of data-privacy, security and compliance in a regulated environment (ideally legal or financial services).

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience working with GIT and Azure Dev Ops.
  • Python or PySpark for advanced transformations in Databricks.
  • Exposure to predictive or prescriptive analytics / MLflow on Databricks.
  • Exposure to Azure and tools such as Synapse.
  • Experience implementing or working with PowerBI Deployment Pipelines (I.e CI/CD).
  • Experience with legal matter-management or case-tracking systems (e.g., iManage, Litify, Relativity).

What Success Looks Like (First 12 Months)

  • Launch self-service KPI dashboards for at least three core functions (e.g., Finance month-end, HR attrition, Litigation pipeline) with documented data lineage.
  • Cut manual report prep time by ≥ 50 % via automated Databricks/Synapse pipelines.
  • Deliver two deep-dive analyses that directly inform strategic decisions (e.g., case-budget optimisation, marketing ROI).
  • Champion BI best practice across the firm, leading the implementation of PowerBI Deployment Pipelines and CI/CD best practices.

Benefits

Pogust Goodhead is an equal opportunities employer. We passionately believe that our team should represent the diverseness of the clients that we support, not least because it’s the diversity of perspective, thought, background and cultures that helps make us one of the leading global law firms in the class actions space.
