Job Overview

The Price Management team are the custodians of all knowledge around price for our customers. They maintain current records as well as future projections and link the element of price across all of our other teams. They ensure all systems are maintained and contact accurate data to enable all teams to carry out their duties. They are also responsible for the completion of certain financial reports including budgets for our customers. This position will be responsible for the management of key customers and their complex flexible energy supply contracts.


Our Price Management team provides support to all departments within our Energy and Decarbonisation division and covers price forecasting, analytical reporting, industry charge support and some administrative duties for our customers on both fixed and risk managed flexible energy contracts. This position will be responsible for the accuracy and quality of outputs presented to our customers and providing insight driven analytics to our internal teams. The successful candidate should have a good level of technical knowledge in energy pricing, hedging principals, systems and market fundamentals.


This position will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the team as well as management of the processes that are followed by working with our heads of department to ensure a seamless delivery to our customers. The successful candidate should have an extensive level of technical knowledge in energy systems, supplier relationships, and have an extensive knowledge of industry charges / systems whilst maintaining a focus on customer management.


Main duties

• Collaborate with our C-Suite customers, establishing strong relationships and offering valuable insights to help them make well informed decisions related to energy and carbon management

• Lead a team of talented energy professionals, ensuring constant opportunities for career growth and development within the team. Completing regular catch ups and annual MiReviews

• Identify and evaluate growth opportunities within the Corporate and SME markets, owning a pipeline of potential projects which will be tracked through our Igniting Growth workstream, and ultimately contributing to the success of the company

• Develop new products such as 24/77 energy around our customers energy spend building in all energy sources and legislation

• Manage all aspects of price for our customers across all service lines. Build bespoke financial analysis for customers, in Excel or relevant analytical software and create and deliver energy forecasts for customers

• Develop analytical models including development of algorithms in Matlab and other systems to ensure efficiency and governance of customer outputs

• Collaborate with the trading desk in the analysis of risk management performance, supplementing with delivery of hedging reviews, volume tolerance analysis and other reports as required

• Collaborate with other internal teams to understand non commodity charges applied to customers and present future risks to the wider business. Understand and interpret both flexible and fixed price contracts into our internal systems

• Any other duty which reasonably falls within the scope of this role

Requirements

• You have at least 5 years experience or knowledge of the energy sector, particularly in non-commodity charges and supply contract variables

• You will possess an understanding of Electricity Market Reform framework, including the capacity market, CfDs, carbon price support, emissions performance standard and associated topics

• An understand UK's transmission and distribution frameworks and policy developments for renewable technologies, including existing and new support mechanisms for renewables and interaction with wider market design

• You have knowledge on how GB electricity markets, renewable electricity and ancillary service markets operation (Wholesale Markets, Balancing Mechanism, Frequency Response Markets)

• Ideally, you will have experience in forecasting or modelling energy charges

• You excel at producing high-quality communications and presentation materials for senior audiences, with the ability to convey complex topics simply and compellingly.

• You have proven ability to build strong relationships with key external stakeholders (ESO, Ofgem and DESNZ, as well as corporate customers

• You have strong quantitative and qualitative skills, you are highly organised with strong interpersonal and management skills with an ability to work to tight deadlines and self-manage priorities amongst multiple tasks

• You possess a demonstrable knowledge of the tools that can be applied to strategic challenges, and you're adept at using these to navigate and resolve complex issues.

• You're willing to work across a range of issues and able to adapt quickly as priorities change

• High proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel

• Programming experience in Matlab, SRSS and SQL would be desirable


Knowledge, skills & experience

• Proven background in working in an energy services team

• Demonstrable experience in leading teams

• Strong background in working with Optima energy management software platform

• Track record of working with large data sets, with appreciation of data visualisation

• Knowledge of all industry partners including the MOP/DC/DA market

• An understanding of energy and carbon management terminology, principles, and methodologies

• Proven ability with Excel and other data analytic tools


Person Specification

• Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

• An ability to work to deadlines

• Self-motivated

• Organised and accurate

• An understanding of the Utilities industry would be beneficial but not essential

The successful candidate will be based in London, Northampton or another Mitie office, but also be expected to attend meetings at customer sites from time to time. Flexible working from home is available 2-3 days per week at management's discretion
