About your team:

You’ll be working centrally within our mission control room, aka Centrica’s group functions. From Finance and Data Science, to our Wellbeing and People teams - this is the engine of our energy system, where our various Centres of Excellence power up each of our brilliant businesses, ensuring they have all the support, technologies, and capabilities they need to get our customers to Net Zero by 2050.

In this pivotal role, you will lead on all aspects of funding and liquidity management for Centrica to ensure the group is safely and competitively funded at all times. This role operates in a high profile and fast paced environment with significant exposure to key external stakeholders such as banks and rating agencies.

You, and your team, will collaborate closely with our Centrica Energy (Trading) team on a daily basis to navigate short term cashflow volatility and proactively implement risk management and long term funding strategies for the group.

What will you do?

  • Leading the Treasury Front Office team, this is a key role managing the balance between financial risk management and cost; the role holder will need to be comfortable managing this ambiguity in high pressure situations. A strong business partnering capability is required to build enduring and valuable relationships and proven capability in building teams is also needed to establish this new team at the centre of delivering Centrica’s strategy.

  • Lead on the design and implementation of all aspects of the liquidity strategy for the group

  • Establish and operate the Treasury toolkit of funding tools

  • Act as group centre of expertise for FX and interest rate risk, including management of day to day business exposures

  • Partner with Centrica Energy to optimise cash generation and consumption within the business to meet overall group needs

  • Manage Centrica’s activities in capital markets including new debt issuance, liability management, fixed: floating strategy and cross currency swaps

  • Lead on the negotiation and strategy for use of core committed credit facilities and letter of credit facilities

  • Optimise Centrica’s daily cash position balancing capital preservation, liquidity and yield

  • Manage the external relationships with banks, credit rating agencies, capital providers and debt investors

  • Member of Treasury leadership team and contributing to delivery of functional agenda

Who are we looking for?

  • Strong track record of partnering to develop mutually beneficial outcomes

  • Experience of representing organisations externally

  • Proven experience of managing conflict and ambiguity in high pressure situations

  • Experience of leading on material commercial transactions within a Treasury context

  • Ability to build effective relationships with external agencies such as Debt Investors or Rating agencies

  • Proven expertise in leading and developing teams in a complex Treasury environment

  • Relevant knowledge of relevant treasury markets, including FX, debt, interest rate, cash and risk management

  • Familiarity with energy markets, trading concepts and associated risk management practices would be preferable

  • Qualifications related to Treasury and/or Finance would be desirable
