Lead the data engineering strategy and roadmap. The basics are in place for a new Databricks platform and the job now is to enhance and optimise the platform, delivering value to the business.

The role involves creating a common data model, standardisation and democratisation of data.

Improving reliability of data pipelines.

Finding and realising efficiencies in the data platform.

Leading a small team of data engineers (2 currently and needs growing) and 3rd party resource to deliver solutions to a data hungry business.

• Own the roadmap for the architecture of the new platform; own a data engineering strategy and plan; communicate with business leaders to provide a data platform for colleagues across the entire business operations; and in time move into AI/ML data science, MI/reporting and data governance and security.
• Define and implement data model standardisation and data democratisation initiatives.
• Improve reliability of data pipelines.
• Identify and realise efficiencies in the data platform.
• Lead and grow a data engineering team and coordinate with 3rd party resources to deliver solutions.

• Experience leading/managing people and delivering a data engineering strategy and roadmap.
• Strong background in data engineering; ability to read the detail (75% hands-off).
• Experience integrating data engineering with backend engineering and microservices.
• Experience with AWS; Databricks; .NET C# stack.
