Job Title: Back Shift Operations Supervisor

Location: Birmingham
Reporting To: Operations Manager
Salary: £34,000 - £38,000 (Depending on Experience)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Back Shift Operations Supervisor to oversee transport and logistics operations within our pallet network. This role is instrumental in ensuring seamless execution of the back shift while supporting day transport activities to maintain operational efficiency, compliance, and service excellence.
The ideal candidate will have strong IT expertise, in-depth knowledge of Vigo TMS management systems, and a solid understanding of tachograph regulations, the Working Time Directive (WTD), and legal driver hours. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment are essential.
In this position, you will work closely with the Customer Service Supervisor, Day Shift Operations Supervisor, and Groupage Manager to uphold key pillars of success within our transport network.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervise back-shift transport operations to ensure timely and efficient deliveries within the pallet network and dedicated routes.
Utilize ELogii transport planning management systems (TMS) for optimal route planning, scheduling, and operational reporting (from 20:00 to 22:00, covering day one to day two).
Ensure full compliance with all relevant transport regulations, including tachograph laws, WTD, and legal driver hours.
Monitor and analyze KPIs and performance metrics, driving continuous improvement to exceed service levels.
Maintain effective communication with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality service.
Work collaboratively with the Compliance Manager to ensure adherence to vehicle maintenance schedules and fleet management strategies.
Implement and support health and safety procedures, fostering a safe workplace culture—we all own H&S!
Provide IT systems support to ensure seamless integration with logistics operations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and enhance operational efficiencies across the department.Key Skills & Experience:

Proven experience as a Shift Manager or in a similar pallet network, transport planning, and logistics role.
Strong proficiency in Vigo transport management systems and general IT applications.
Comprehensive understanding of pallet network operations.
Extensive knowledge of tachograph laws, WTD, and driver legal hours.
Strong grasp of legal compliance legislation within the transport industry.
Outstanding leadership, communication, and people management
Ability to make critical decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Working knowledge of health and safety regulations in transport and logistics.
Financial awareness, including budget management and cost control.Desirable Qualifications:

CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in Transport Management.
Experience in data analytics for operational improvements.Working Conditions:

Office-based role with occasional travel requirements.
May involve irregular hours to meet operational demands.
Working hours: 13:00 - 22:00 (Monday to Friday) with a one-hour unpaid lunch break, totaling a 45-hour workweek.
Bank holiday support may be required, subject to local agreement.
