The role...

GlobalData’s Automotive team is looking to hire an Economics and Market Topline Analyst. This position provides a key contribution to the development of our automotive market outlook, working closely with industry analysts and initially focusing on Asia.

What you'll be doing...

Market Forecast Co-ordination: Lead the coordination of key total light vehicle market forecasts with members of the GlobalData Automotive Research and Analysis team. The focus will initially be Asian markets. Work alongside colleagues to identify, understand and interpret market trends, considering economic indicators and industry-specific issues. Ensure alignment on forecast assumptions and methodologies. 

Applied Economic Analysis: Conduct in-depth economic analysis to assess the impact of macroeconomic factors on the automotive market, including GDP growth, consumer spending, fiscal and monetary policy. Stay abreast of industry developments and economic shifts, providing timely updates and insights to the team. 

Develop and Enhance Forecasts: Continuously refine forecasting methodologies and models to improve predictive capabilities and adapt to changing market dynamics. Collaborate with industry experts and thought leaders to gather insights and validate forecasts, ensuring they reflect the latest market intelligence. Utilize statistical tools and models to analyze historical data and identify trends that may influence future market conditions. Develop and maintain a robust forecasting framework that incorporates quantitative and qualitative data to produce accurate and reliable market forecasts. 

Forecast Delivery: Present topline market forecasts to stakeholders, primarily, but not exclusively, through written reports, providing clear insights to inform strategic decision-making. Ensure timely delivery of forecasts and reports to internal and external stakeholders, adhering to established deadlines. 

What we're looking for...

Bachelor’s degree in economics-related field; advanced degree preferred. 

Proven experience in market analysis, forecasting, or economic research, preferably within the automotive sector. 

Minimum 2 years related experience. 

Advanced PC skills, particularly in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.  

Strong analytical skills with proficiency in statistical analysis software and data visualization tools. 

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including colleagues, clients and external contacts. 

A proactive approach to problem-solving and a passion for staying informed about industry trends and developments. 

Interest and ability in working with large databases and numerical systems. 

Ability to work independently, manage own schedules and deliver to deadlines.
