About The Role

CrowdStrike is seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our expanding Data Science team. In these roles, you'll lead cutting-edge AI/ML research initiatives at the intersection of cybersecurity and advanced machine learning, with a focus on mechanistic explainability, self-supervised learning, representation learning, and innovations that extend beyond current generative AI capabilities.

What You'll Do

  • Lead research initiatives in mechanistic explainability, self-supervised learning, and representation learning to advance fundamental AI capabilities for cybersecurity applications
  • Develop novel machine learning architectures that move beyond current generative AI paradigms, creating more robust, transparent, and efficient models for complex multimodal cybersecurity data
  • Analyze diverse, high-dimensional datasets to discover latent patterns and extract meaningful insights from massive unlabeled data
  • Develop rigorous experimental frameworks and evaluation methodologies to validate theoretical advances across dimensions of performance, interpretability, robustness, and generalization in real-world cybersecurity contexts
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to translate research breakthroughs into practical, deployable solutions
  • Publish findings in top-tier academic journals and present at leading conferences to advance the field
  • Create and file patents for novel methodologies and technologies developed during your research
  • Engage with the broader research community to exchange ideas and stay current with cutting-edge developments
  • Mentor junior researchers and foster a culture of scientific inquiry and innovation

What You'll Need

  • PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent research experience, with 5+ years post-graduation experience in advanced machine learning research
  • Strong theoretical foundation in machine learning fundamentals and statistical methods
  • Proficiency with Python, Deep Learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), and distributed computing environments
  • Excellent scientific writing and communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to conduct independent research while collaborating effectively in multidisciplinary teams

Bonus Points

  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more specialized areas: mechanistic interpretability, self-supervised learning, representation learning, or emerging AI paradigms
  • Research leadership and scientific impact through publications in high-impact journals, patents, or deployed innovations
  • Experience applying advanced ML techniques to cybersecurity challenges
  • Experience designing and implementing novel machine learning architectures and algorithms
  • Background in theoretical foundations such as information theory, causal inference, or theoretical computer science
  • Expertise in robust AI approaches including adversarial machine learning, multi-agent systems, or emergent behaviors
  • Experience with large-scale distributed training and optimization techniques
  • Knowledge of privacy-preserving machine learning and differential privacy methods
  • Familiarity with next-generation computing paradigms such as neuromorphic computing, brain-inspired architectures, or quantum machine learning
  • Specialized knowledge in computational linguistics or graph neural networks for complex relational data
  • Contributions to open-source machine learning projects or frameworks

Please note: This role focuses on fundamental research that pushes beyond current AI paradigms to develop the next generation of explainable, self-supervised learning systems for cybersecurity applications. Level of hire will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
