Job Overview:


We are seeking a creative and data-drivenSenior Mobile Game Designerto join the team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of player behaviour, game design, monetisation strategies and music theory. In this role, you will be responsible for designing gameplay, game flow, new game features and monetisation features, ensuring they align with the game's overall design and provide players with a rewarding experience.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Game Features:Design new features for the game and document with enough detail to implement them, while pro-actively pushing the quality bar and fun-factor of the game.
  • Monetisation Features:Develop monetisation strategies, including in-app purchases, ads, and subscriptions that enhance player experience and drive revenue growth.
  • Economy:generate models of the game economy balanced with difficulty and scoring.
  • Analyze Player Behaviour:Utilise data analytics to understand player behaviour and preferences, identifying opportunities for improving monetisation and engagement.
  • UI/UX:Design the logic, layout, and flow of the in-game user interface elements so that they are easy to understand and navigate.
  • Mockups:Diagrams, wireframes and prototypes illustrating the gameplay, monetisation, game flow and user interface design.
  • Optimise Existing Systems:Continuously evaluate and refine existing gameplay and monetisation features based on player feedback, market trends, and performance data.
  • A/B Testing Strategies:Design and implement A/B tests to assess the effectiveness of different features and iterate based on results.
  • Industry Trends:Keep abreast of industry trends, competitor products, game design trends/innovations and monetization strategies to ensure our games remain competitive and innovative.
  • Collaboration:Work closely with the CTO, art director, artists, Unity developers and other game designers to ensure gameplay and monetization features are well-integrated into the game design and align with player expectations..
  • Mentor and Guide:Provide mentorship and guidance to junior game designers, sharing best practices and fostering a collaborative and creative environment.
  • Review and Provide Feedback:Review the work of other game designers, providing constructive feedback and ensuring the highest standards are maintained.


Required Qualifications:


  • Experience in Game Design and Monetisation:At least 3 years of experience in game design, monetisation, or a related field, in the mobile gaming industry.Released at least 2 titles on the app stores.
  • Excellent Communication Skills:Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex gameplay and monetization strategies to diverse audiences.
  • Strong Analytical Skills:Proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies, with the ability to interpret player data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Understanding of Monetisation Models:Deep knowledge of various monetization models, including free-to-play, in-app purchases, ads, and subscriptions.
  • Collaborative Mindset:Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment, managing multiple stakeholders and balancing creative and business needs.
  • Proficiency in Analytics and A/B Testing Tools:Experience with tools like Google Analytics, Firebase, GameAnalytics or similar platforms.
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills:Ability to solve complex artistic and technical challenges, optimising assets for performance without compromising visual quality.
  • Strong Communication and Collaboration Skills:Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications but not essential

  • Photoshop:Experience with Photoshop to create mockups and illustrate game design.
  • UI/UX Design Tools:Knowledge of UI/UX software such as Figma, XD or Sketch.


  • Unity: Experience working with Unity game engine to tweak and tune gameplay variables. C# coding knowledge would be a bonus.
