Senior Infrastructure Specialist

Location:Hybrid / Remote-first / London City

Salary plus on-call allowance plus bonus

Hours:Monday - Friday (8 AM - 4 PM / 9 AM - 5 PM shifts)

About the Role

We are looking for aSenior Infrastructure Specialistto join the growingInfrastructure Operations team of our Financial Services client.

This role will be key in maintaining and optimising ahybrid multi-cloud environment (on-premises, AWS and Azure), supportingessential maintenance, migrations, and infrastructure enhancements.

The role is a mix ofBAUandinfrastructure projects and technical improvements, ensuring platform stability while driving continuous infrastructure enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure Projects & Enhancements

  1. Contribute tolow-level design (LLD)and infrastructure project engineering tasks.
  2. Supportstorage and compute refresh projects, ensuring smooth migrations.
  3. Assist indata warehouse integration (SQL Server or Snowflake).
  4. Take part inFinOps and Cloud cost management initiatives, optimising AWS and Azure cloud spending.
  5. Support theRFP process for selecting a new patching solution.
  6. Participate incloud migration projects, ensuring efficient transitions to IaaS in AWS.

Operations & Maintenance (BAU) – 60%

  1. Performdaily infrastructure health checksand ensure platform stability.
  2. Manage and maintainVMware vSphere virtualisation, Windows Server, Active Directory/Entra ID, Cisco UCS / Compute, and SAN Storage (Pure or equivalent).
  3. Handledisaster recovery and backup management (Commvault, immutable backups)to ensure audit readiness.
  4. Supportmonitoring and observability tools (LogicMonitor or similar).
  5. Able to work in aregulated environment, ensuring compliance with audit and security requirements.
  6. Participate in theannual maintenance programme, focusing on infrastructure lifecycle management to set annual budgets.

Key Skills & Experience

Infrastructure

  1. Virtualisation - VMware vSphere
  2. SAN Storage (Pure or equivalent)

Public Cloud

  1. AWS & Azure IaaS (cloud migrations, infrastructure management)
  2. Cloud financial management (FinOps) in AWS & Azure

Backup & Disaster Recovery:

  1. Commvault or equivalent
  2. Knowledge ofimmutable backup solutionsand ability torecover backupsto meetaudit requirements

Data & Monitoring:

  1. Understanding ofSQL Server (Snowflake a bonus)for data warehouse integrations
  2. Experience withmonitoring and observability tools (ideally LogicMonitor)

Compliance & Regulatory Environment:

  1. Previous experience working in aregulated IT environment
  2. Ability to ensureaudit complianceand respond to regulatory requirements

Desirable (Nice to Have):

  1. Exposure toDevOps practices(opportunity to work with an in-house DevOps consultant)
  2. Knowledge ofRFP processesfor selecting IT solutions
