Create job alert

We're hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join our Platform Analytics team. In this role you’ll build and maintain the data foundations that power our analytics platform. We're looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a cross-functional squad alongside Engineers, Analysts and Scientists!

You’ll design and implement the pipelines, warehouses and automation that enable rapid, reliable access to Our Future Health participant, NHS, and genomic datasets. By creating scalable, reliable pipelines, you’ll give our analysts and scientists seamless access to high-quality data—so they can run their analyses more efficiently and iterate on findings with confidence.

How we work together

We’re a remote-first team that values flexibility and connection. Twice a month, we come together in person to collaborate, co-work, and share lunch. Once a quarter, we host a strategy day focused on big-picture thinking, problem-solving, and planning ahead. These gatherings are a great opportunity to build trusted relationships, learn from each other, and feel part of something meaningful.

We also host regular team demos and a book club—because celebrating what we build and continuously learning together is important to us.

About Us

Our Future Health will be the UK’s largest ever health research programme, bringing people together to develop new ways to detect, prevent and treat diseases. We are a charity, supported by the UK Government in partnership with charities and industry. We work closely with the NHS and with public authorities across all nations and regions of the UK.

Our plan is to bring together 5 million volunteers from right across the UK who will be asked to contribute information to help build one of the most detailed pictures we have ever had of people’s health. Researchers will be able to use this information to make new discoveries about human health and diseases. So future generations can live in good health for longer.

We don't expect you to have experience of everything but you will need some of the below to succeed in this role:

  • Proven experience with production-grade ETLs, data warehousing, and robust data modelling.
  • You are highly proficient in SQL and deeply understand Snowflake architecture.
  • You enjoy partnering with analysts, engineers, and product teams to deliver value quickly and iteratively.
  • Demonstrated experience building data infrastructure and platforms from scratch in a greenfield or early-stage environment.
  • Proven experience building complex data pipelines and ETL processes from disparate sources in a production environment.
  • Deep expertise with modern cloud data warehousing platforms, especially Snowflake (alternatively experience with BigQuery).
  • Strong data modelling skills, including dimensional modelling and handling slowly changing dimensions.
  • Strong CI/CD skills to automate the development lifecycle: proficiency with Github Actions preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python for data engineering tasks.
  • Experience with data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of data governance, security principles, and privacy best practices, ideally in regulated or sensitive data environments.
  • Experience with dbt for data modelling and quality testing.
  • Experience enabling and supporting self-service analytics for data scientists and analysts.

Nice to have:

  • Any experience container orchestration (Kubernetes) and cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, BI platforms (Omni, Looker etc), and product analytics tools (Mixpanel).
    • Competitive base salary from £74,000
    • Generous Pension Scheme – We invest in your future with employer contributions of up to 12%.
    • 30 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays – Enjoy a generous holiday allowance with the flexibility to take bank holidays when it suits you.
    • Enhanced Parental Leave – Supporting you during life’s biggest moments.
    • Career Growth & Development – £500 per year to spend on Learnerbly, our learning platform, plus regular appraisals and development opportunities.
    • Cycle to Work Scheme – Save 25-39% on a new bike and accessories through salary sacrifice.
    • Home & Tech Savings – Get up to 8% off on IKEA and Currys products, spreading the cost over 12 months through salary sacrifice
    • £1,000 Employee Referral Bonus – Know someone amazing? Get rewarded for bringing them on board!
    • Wellbeing Support – Access to Mental Health First Aiders, plus 24/7 online GP services and an Employee Assistance Programme for you and your family.
    • A Great Place to Work – We have a lovely Central London office in Holborn, and offer flexible and remote working arrangements.
