About the role

The Senior Data Analyst within Supply Chain will be responsible for analysing and interpreting large amounts of data from a range of internal and external sources, using algorithmic, data mining, artificial intelligence and statistical tools, to make it available to Merchandise Planners and wider Supply Chain teams for decision making.

You’ll also be responsible for the creation and maintenance of weekly KPI dashboards and actionable insight and use statistical and analytical methods plus AI tools to automate specific processes within Supply Chain and develop smart solutions to business challenges.

The role aims to ensure Halfords can leverage competitive advantage through the deployment of best-in-class analytics across planning and the end-to-end supply chain, driving continuous efficiency and effectiveness through automation and informed decision making, linking business strategy to insight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyse, and interpret complex internal and external data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive supply chain decisions.
  • Work closely with supply chain operations, supply planners and other key business stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide analytical support.
  • Provide expertise and translate the business needs to design; and develop tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders based on data analysis to improve supply and planning efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance profitability.
  • Provide data solutions, tools, and capabilities to enable self-service frameworks for data consumers.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy by implementing rigorous validation processes and consistently reviewing data sources.
  • Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
  • Influence the ingestion of new data sources into the Group Data Platform, support the testing of new data and creation of supply chain measures for business use.

Key Skills/Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Economics) is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in data analysis or a related field, preferably within a retail business environment.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Excel) and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with a solid attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and experience applying them to real-world problems.
  • Ability to create compelling, interactive data visualizations that effectively communicate insights.
  • Understanding of business supply chain operations and supply planning processes.

At Halfords, we operate a hybrid working policy with 3 days per week on-site at our support centre in Redditch Worcestershire.
