We've been shaking up the online affiliate business for years, investing millions into technical solutions to transform online shopping as we know it.



We seek a highly skilled Business Intelligence (BI) Developer with expertise in Google BigQuery, Looker Studio, and PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimising our data pipelines and reporting solutions to drive data-driven decision-making across the organisation.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



This role demands a deep understanding of data modelling, SQL, and performance tuning in BigQuery and PostgreSQL, along with a proven ability to create insightful and visually appealing reports and dashboards in Looker Studio.



BigQuery Development & Optimization:



  • Design and implement efficient data models in BigQuery to support business reporting needs.
  • Write and optimise complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
  • Improve query performance and reduce costs by optimising storage and processing in BigQuery.
  • Implement best practices for data partitioning, clustering, and materialised views.



PostgreSQL Management & Optimization:



  • Design, develop, and maintain databases in PostgreSQL.
  • Optimise SQL queries and database performance in PostgreSQL, ensuring efficient data retrieval and processing.
  • Implement and manage database indexing, partitioning, and other performance optimization techniques in PostgreSQL.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and availability in PostgreSQL environments.



Looker Studio Development:


  • Create and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Looker Studio.
  • Develop robust data visualisations to communicate complex insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work closely with business teams to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security within reports and dashboards.



Data Integration & Management:


  • Integrate data from multiple sources, including BigQuery and PostgreSQL, ensuring quality, accuracy, and availability of data.
  • Collaborate with data engineers to streamline data pipelines and automate ETL processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data flows, models, and systems.



Collaboration & Support:


  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including data engineering, product management, and operations, to support data-driven initiatives.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on using Looker Studio dashboards and reports.
  • Deliver agreed key results against company and departmental objectives within the OKR system.
  • Write production-ready code that is understandable and easily testable, understanding best practices and using, where necessary, appropriate advanced language and algorithms
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any data-related issues or discrepancies.



PERSON SPECIFICATION



Qualifications:


Desirable - Degree in Software Engineering or related field



Experience:


Essential - 5+ years of experience as a BI Developer, Data Analyst, or similar role



Tech Stack:


Database Technologies: BigQuery, AlloyDB, CloudSQL, PostgreSQL


DataVisualisation: LookerStudio, Kabana


Programming Languages: Go, Python


Technologies: GCP, Gitlab, Jira, Confluence



Skills:


Essential:


  • Strong proficiency in SQL with hands-on experience in Google BigQuery and PostgreSQL.
  • Proven experience in optimising both BigQuery and PostgreSQL for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Expertise in creating and managing reports and dashboards in Looker Studio (formerly Data Studio).
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and data modelling.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R is a plus.
  • Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Agile working methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
  • Dealing with high throughput systems
  • Data processing platforms
  • Working with different database technologies (ElasticSearch, MySQL, Spanner)
  • Microservices
  • Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Functions
