Job Description

Turner & Townsend's Digital and Consultancy business unit are looking for a suitable candidate to join their team, with a particular focus in (but not limited to) the Defence sector. CandidatesMUSTalready hold high-level UK government security clearance.

The team offers a wide range of commissions covering the UK. Candidates would be expected to travel supporting the delivery of the commissions. As a global business, we deliver projects anywhere in the world for our global client base, so future flexibility would be advantageous.

Consultants will work within our Digital consulting team. They may also operate within wider Turner & Townsend project teams from other business units. In addition, they will need to interact with clients and other project stakeholders. They will support a wide range of projects of all sizes and dimensions. From time to time, this may include working with consultants from different agencies.

The successful candidate will provide business analysis expertise, particularly for our Defence sector commissions. Additionally, they will support the development of our business analysis service offering, providing best practice knowledge and guidance to junior colleagues and the wider business. Furthermore, they will support the development of new commercial service opportunities.

Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills with an ability to adapt to and embed into different client environments.

Candidates will be expected to engage with clients and be comfortable leading workshops, process modelling, and the requirements management lifecycle to enable successful delivery of technical solutions.

As a Senior Business Analyst, your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Scoping and implementing best practice Business Analysis methodologies in a client environment, to deliver client value through the creation of structured outputs, processes, and ways of working.
  2. Documenting the As-Is state for a variety of outputs, including processes, systems landscapes, and user journeys. Working alongside stakeholders to identify To-Be state, documenting gap analysis wherever relevant.
  3. Elicitation, capture, and prioritisation of requirements at all stages of the project lifecycle. Continuing management of backlogs, including coherence of requirements capture best practice across workstreams.
  4. Managing data capture and validation.
  5. Supporting Data Analysts in the production of systems and models.
  6. Analysis of model output, producing reports and commentary.
  7. Supporting client’s use of model outputs for decision making.
  8. Testing of systems and models against requirements.
  9. Conducting assurance checks of implemented systems and models.
  10. Supporting technical solution outputs to BAU services.
  11. Preparing formal project progress and other reports.
  12. Liaising with the client, contractors, and designers.

Previous experience in consultancy and delivery within the National Security sector (with the appropriate clearances) is essential.

Business Analysis qualifications such as BCS or IIBA (desirable). Alternatively, extensive experience will be considered.

System access control: analysis, requirements capture, and specifying data security protocols and user permissions.

Information lineage and provenance: Track and document data origins, transformations, and movement.

Validation and Insight: Verify data accuracy and extract meaningful insights for decision-making.

Proficient in working with cloud-based solutions for data management and analysis.

Experience of working in Agile development teams is required.

An understanding of technical solutions’ capabilities, including the following is desired: Power BI, SQL, Power Platform, SharePoint and cloud platform services. The candidate should be comfortable working alongside technical developer teams, with an ability to elicit and translate technical requirements from non-technical stakeholders to a team of data specialists.

This role will require good analytic and strong numeracy skills with the ability to understand and present data in different representations. Ability, or the desire to learn, a basic understanding of languages such as VBA and SQL is preferred.

Qualifications

Data modelling: Analyse, design, and optimise data structures to represent complex information.

Data quality: Investigate and identify actions to ensure data integrity, consistency, and reliability across systems.

Data architecture: Understanding of IT architectural concepts, how they support the development of scalable and efficient digital solutions.

Knowledge of Programme and Project Management software is advantageous, such as Primavera P6, Contruent, SAP, Prism.

Degree in an analytic subject. This is not required, but preferred.

Other responsibilities, to include:

Supporting the growth of the Digital Business Analysis service offering by preparing presentations and other materials for client pitches, internal and external communications.

Inputting key information into the Turner & Townsend internal database tools, opportunity tracking, invoicing. Please note training will be provided on these.

Supporting junior Business Analyst’s career growth, with coaching and line management opportunities if desired.
