As a Senior BI Developer, you will be at the forefront of creating Analytical Solutions and insights into a wide range of business processes throughout the organisation and playing a core role in our strategic initiatives to enhance data-driven decision-making across the company.

We are on a transformative journey, establishing a new foundation of processes, ownership, and technology; with a focus on developing a modern data platform in the cloud.

You will embed best practices, mentor BI developers, and guide the team. You will lead prototyping solutions, developing data models, reports, and visualisations, and integrating new data sets with our BI tools. You will collaborate with Data Platform and Data Engineers to meet the company's growing data needs.

Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing

  1. Collaborating with Stakeholders: Gathering requirements for analytical solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  2. Designing Solutions: Creating intuitive and actionable visualisations for business analysts.
  3. Developing Data Models: Managing robust data models for various business functions.
  4. Modernise Architecture: Migrate processes to a modern data platform using best practices.
  5. Aligning with BI Strategy: Support and evolve the BI strategy.
  6. Architectural Decisions: Involvement in architectural decisions, helping us to choose the right technologies and solution design.
  7. Technical Documentation: Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation.
  8. Incident and Change Response: Address BI system incidents and change requests swiftly.
  9. Mentorship: Guide and mentor the BI Team, fostering continuous learning.
  10. Continuous Improvement: Enhance BI processes and data-driven decision-making.
  11. Performance Optimisation: Ensure efficient and scalable data models and reporting solutions.
  12. Security and Compliance: Adhere to data security and compliance standards.
  13. Setting Standards: Establish coding standards, design patterns and best practices for the team to ensure consistency and maintainability of the codebase.
  14. Peer Review and Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to agreed standards and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality.

Minimum Requirements

  • BI Tools Proficiency: Expertise in Power BI, Tableau or similar visualisation tools.
  • SQL and Databases: Strong knowledge of SQL, data warehousing concepts, and database management.
  • ETL Processes: Experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes (e.g. SSIS, AWS Glue, DBT).
  • Data Modelling: Ability to create and manage data models.
  • Data Analysis: Advanced data analysis and modelling skills, including statistical analysis and predictive modelling.
  • Modern Data Platforms: Knowledge of Snowflake, Databricks, or similar platforms.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork.

Desirable Skills

  • Cloud Services: Understanding of AWS services like S3, Lambda, and MSK.
  • AI Tools: Familiarity with AI-driven tools such as ThoughtSpot or Amazon QuickSight.
  • Programming Languages: Familiarity with Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Big Data Technologies: Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark.
  • Data Governance: Understanding of data governance and data quality management.
