In this newly created role, the Sustainability Senior Associate will be responsible for the collation, analysis and use of all sustainability data, both qualitative and quantitative, in order to support Pantheon’s sustainability monitoring and reporting requirements.

Data is sourced from a combination of areas including internally from investment teams and externally from underlying investment managers and external ESG data partners. The Sustainability Senior Associate will be responsible for coordinating, aggregating and analyzing sustainability-related data from multiple sources to generate portfolio sustainability data, with a focus on climate-related metrics. This includes calculating the carbon footprint and carbon intensity of portfolios, as well as other metrics relating to portfolio companies and investment managers. This data is then used to fulfill regulatory and client reporting requirements including areas such as TCFD, SFDR and other bespoke requirements as they arise.

Own the coordination and execution of general sustainability data sourcing and collation across the business, including:

  1. Working with Pantheon’s investment teams and external data suppliers to ensure appropriate data is sourced on a timely basis
  2. Ensuring data governance to align data with wider Portfolio Data
  3. Maintain datasets to support sustainability-related queries

Project manage the delivery of a variety of sustainability reporting and other sustainability-related projects throughout the year, working with Pantheon’s investment, reporting, company data, legal & compliance and investor relations teams, to ensure these meet regulatory requirements and investor expectations. The key annual deliverables include:

  1. Multiple Pantheon’s SIR (Sustainability Insight Reporting) which include key sustainability and climate-related metrics
  2. Public sustainability reporting for Pantheon along with two listed investment trusts
  3. Responses to investor-specific ESG queries regarding Pantheon’s general ESG approach (DDQs, RFPs)
  4. Other external sustainability reporting requirements (e.g. PRI assessments, Pantheon research papers)

Support the development of additional TCFD (climate-related) disclosures to meet UK regulatory reporting requirements, this includes:

  1. Working with internal teams and external data providers to produce qualitative and quantitative climate data (e.g. scenario analysis to produce forward looking climate metrics)
  2. Coordinating the production of annual fund-level TCFD-compliant reports (on request)

Other responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the monitoring of sustainability incidents across the portfolio
  2. Manage external resources to facilitate data collection and reporting
  3. Enhance the efficiency of existing sustainability data processes and support the enhancement of systems, including, where possible, the use of AI
  4. Develop a good understanding on how Pantheon integrates sustainability into the investment process and general regulatory reporting requirements

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  1. Experienced professional working with data in a financial environment.
  2. Strong technical skills, including experience in handling large scale datasets
  3. Excellent data analysis and integration skills
  4. Good technical level with Microsoft tools including Power Automate and PowerBI.
  5. Ability to work independently and exercise professional judgement to achieve best results
  6. Self starter with strong organisational skills
  7. Ability to work collaboratively
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  9. Proven ability to develop strong and open working relationships
  10. Experience of ensuring timely and accurate delivery, working with tight deadlines
  11. Highly Numerate and analytical

Non essential experience that would be advantageous;

  1. An interest in ESG and awareness of ESG climate metrics and global regulatory reporting requirements (e.g. TCFD, SFDR etc)
  2. Experience of process changes
  3. Knowledge of Fund of Fund private markets (including equity, infrastructure and private debt) structure and reporting
  4. Experience of managing outsourced teams and external data suppliers
  5. Related financial qualification (e.g. Accountancy, CFA, IMC)
