Micheldever Tyres is looking for a Purchasing Manager with an Automotive background, to provide purchasing excellence. Leading and motivating a team to consistently deliver the highest level of availability within budgeted stock levels. You will be a strong communicator and have the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships ensuring commercially, the acquisition prices and support packages remain competitive. You will source premium tyres in line with company profile strategy, achieving best possible profit and availability whilst working within set KPI’s.

  • Position: Purchasing Manager – Automotive

  • Location: Micheldever, Near Winchester

  • Package: Salary £70K + bonus + Car or Car Allowance + Benefits

    About the role:

  • Provide buyer / purchasing excellence, driving process and communication with suppliers

  • Manage end-to-end supplier service levels and commercial terms

  • Maintain and improve manufacturer terms to gain a competitive advantage over the market

  • Ensure overall financial commitment in line with budgeted and permitted parameters

  • Understand market shortages and pricing opportunities of product that can be sourced indirectly

  • Manage stock levels across multiple locations

  • Negotiate with suppliers to provide sufficient levels of service and obtain the best net / net acquisition price

  • Liaise with Retail and Wholesale teams to optimise profit opportunities

  • Working with Head of Commercial Systems and Business Intelligence Managers, drive improved forecasting across the business

  • Liaise with Logistics team to regularly review volume vs. capacity

  • Liaise with Pricing and Wholesale teams to ensure that stock quality and price positioning

    About You:

  • An experienced Buyer of auto parts

  • Experience of stock allocation as a Buyer

  • Effective presentation and listening skills coupled with a consultative style to ensure team commitment

  • Proven ability to lead and coach a team to deliver and complete tasks within an agreed timescale

  • Excellent business acumen with experience in managing and understanding supplier commercial terms

  • Experience of managing end-to-end supplier service levels

  • A strong market understanding of both B2B and B2C

  • Knowledge and experience using MS Excel and presentation packages

    Micheldever Tyre Services (MTS) was founded in 1972 as a part-time venture providing car servicing and tyres. Today, Micheldever Group is the fastest growing wholesaler, distributor and retailer of tyres in the UK, selling six million tyres nationwide, (20 percent of the total UK market) and employing approximately 2100 employees company wide.

    To support this business, we have built a wholesale distribution network of 14 sites around the UK supplying over 6,000 retailers and our own retail chain Protyre which is consistently growing. This is achieved by skilled, focused and determined teams across 1 central distribution and 13 warehouse operations nationwide
