Inventory Control Team Leader
Wotton, Surrey – own transport is required due to rural location
Azenta Life Sciences specialises in the design, manufacture and marketing of consumables and bench top instrumentation for the life sciences industry.
As the Inventory Control Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of inventory accuracy and control within the warehouse. This role involves leading a team, overseeing stock management processes, ensuring data integrity, and driving operational efficiency to support business goals.
What You’ll Be Doing

  • Inventory Management & Accuracy
    Monitor stock levels and ensure they are maintained within agreed parameters
    Manage regular cycle counts & reconciliation to ensure records match physical inventory
    Organise & manage annual stock count
    Investigate & resolve inventory discrepancies
    Ensure proper documentation & recordkeeping for stock movements
    Oversee stock rotation and ensure items nearing expiration are managed effectively
  • Leadership & Team Supervision
    Lead, train, assign tasks & oversee daily operations of the inventory & goods in teams
    Assign tasks & oversee daily operations
    Monitor & manage product scrapping process
    Ensure team members follow best practices & company policies
    Provide performance feedback & conduct periodic evaluations
  • Stock Control & Optimisation
    Coordinate with production & warehouse teams to optimise stock availability
    Minimise stock shortages, overstocking & dead stock
    Ensure proper labelling, storage & handling of inventory
    Implement strategies to improve inventory turnover
    Review stock for short dated, expired stock & stock levels
    New supplier set-up process
  • Warehouse Organisation
    Ensure the warehouse is organised to optimise space and allow for efficient stock retrieval during peak periods.
    Implement & maintain warehouse labelling systems for easy identification & tracking
  • Receiving
    Oversee the receipt, inspection, & documentation of deliveries to ensure accuracy & compliance with PO/TO’s
    Assist the Goods In team with any stock queries
    Systems Management
    Utilise inventory software to track stock levels
    Ensure the accuracy of data input into systems for inventory tracking
    System data cleansing
  • Compliance & Safety
    Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures & safety regulations
    Maintain compliance with industry standards & legal requirements
    Train team members on proper handling of inventory to prevent damage & loss
    Assist in keeping the warehouse organised
  • Reporting & Communication
    Generate inventory reports & analyse data for decision making
    Prepare reports on stock levels & discrepancies
    Track & report any stock losses or damages to Line Manager
    Communicate stock status, shortages & issues to relevant departments
    Collaborate with teams to streamline operations
    What You’ll Bring
    Proven experience with ERP/inventory management systems.
    In-depth knowledge of warehousing practices and inventory control.
