We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our Business Intelligence Team at Imperial College Healthcare. In this role, you will be responsible for developing information systems to support the Medical Director's Office, with a strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server development and/or Apache Spark big data processing environments. Your work will involve creating algorithms and pipelines to transform and process data, delivering powerful solutions that address both clinical and operational needs.

You must already be an expert information systems developer, and preferably have had exposure developing algorithms in Python/PySpark. Expert level experience of SQL server is expected as a minimum.This is a hybrid role, based at the St Mary's site in Paddington and working from home.

Main duties of the job

  • Liaise with senior clinical stakeholders, system suppliers and operational staff to clarify requirements and develop systems that pioneer use of digital systems to transform patient care
  • Manage projects and timelines, working with developers and system administrators to deliver in accordance with tight deadlines
  • Ensure efficient and optimum reporting systems are developed to meet reporting/monitoring requirements using a range of technologies, and ongoing maintenance and optimisation of these information systems
  • Serve as subject matter expert in the technical and data infrastructure of digital solutions

Person SpecificationEducation/ Qualifications

  • Master's Degree level or equivalent experience (relevant to role).
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development
  • Qualification in Project Management.
  • Association of Professional Healthcare Analysts professional registration

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in healthcare informatics analytics.
  • Knowledge and understanding of mandatory reporting requirements, NHS data standards and definitions
  • Good understanding of NHS governance and performance systems.
  • Experience of communicating complex issues and data concepts to a range of people.
  • Advanced use of SQL to extract data from large complex databases.
  • Advanced use of Excel (macro level).
  • Good knowledge and competent use of Patient Administration System and other HealthCare IT systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes.
  • Experience of Business Objects
  • Experience of managing projects
  • Experience of managing teams to underpin knowledge of HR, staff performance and workforce issues.
  • Demonstrable experience at a senior level in healthcare
  • Informatics management role.
  • Good knowledge of NHS provider/commissioner contracts & payment by results.
  • Experience of Cerner Millennium

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

  • Good level of technical skills, underpinned by theory and practice, in designing systems, handling sensitive data, automating data processing that will support data presentation and interpretation
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal (including presentation skills)- able to identify key points from complex issues and explain them appropriately and with clarity
  • Structured, diagnostic approach to finding solutions to complex data issues.
  • Data Warehouse experience
  • Good understanding of technology and systems
  • Proven people management, leadership, team building and motivation skills.
  • Use of SQL server 2014
  • IT Project Management knowledge and experience
