Role Summary:
A Data Governance Analyst is responsible for developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy, security, and integrity of Aventum’s data. They work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, including IT, legal, compliance, and business teams, to establish data standards and ensure adherence to data policies.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and improve the Arch data governance framework, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Establish a framework and operating models aligned with industry standards like DAMA-DMBOK.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging stakeholders and driving organizational change.
- Advocate for data governance initiatives across departments and levels.
- In-depth knowledge of data governance concepts, principles, and best practices.
- Familiarity with industry-standard data governance frameworks.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining Data Cataloging tools to ensure proper data classification and accessibility.
- Develop and enforce data governance policies and standards.
- Define data governance roles and responsibilities throughout Aventum Group
- Establish data ownership frameworks to promote accountability.
- Proficiency in data quality assessment, measurement, and improvement techniques.
- Establish data quality rules and guidelines for data handling.
- Monitor and report on data-related matters impacting compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate discussions and escalations related to data management, privacy, and security.
- Develop and implement data governance training programs for organisational staff.
Role Requirements
- Understand and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
- Align data governance practices with regulatory standards.
- Establish data quality metrics and monitoring mechanisms.
- Assess and improve data quality using data quality tools.
- Define data retention, archiving, and disposal policies.
- Implement data lineage to track data movement and ensure effective data management.
- Implement MDM tool to manage and control master data.
- Define and enforce data standards, ownership, and stewardship.
- Implement metadata management tools to manage and track metadata.
- Link metadata to data assets in the catalog.
- Define data governance workflows to automate processes.
- Streamline data classification, access, and stewardship.
- Lead data governance projects from initiation to completion.
- Proficient in project management methodologies and tools.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
- Continually monitor and improve the effectiveness of data governance processes
- Experience within the Company and London Market Insurance sectors
Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Information Management, Computer Science, or Business Administration.
- Several years of experience in data management, data governance, or a related field.
- Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams towards achieving data governance objectives.
- Provide guidance and direction in implementing data governance policies and practices.
- Ability to listen actively to understand the needs and concerns of various stakeholders.
- Capacity to develop a long-term vision for data governance aligned with organisational goals and objectives.
- Ability to identify strategic opportunities for improving data management practices.
- Proficiency in analysing data governance issues, identifying trends, and recommending solutions.
- Ability to interpret data governance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
