Data Governance Manager

Job Title: Data Governance Manager
Location: Crewe, 2 days onsite per week
Remuneration: Daily rate up to £325
Contract Details: 6 month contract

Our client is on the lookout for a proactive Data Governance Manager to lead and embed essential data governance practices across the organization. This is a pivotal role that ensures data is accurate, secure, and used responsibly while acting as a vital link between technical teams and business stakeholders. Responsibilities:

Develop and implement robust data governance frameworks, policies, and standards.
Lead data stewardship initiatives to guarantee data quality, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with stakeholders across business units to identify data needs, challenges, and opportunities.
Define and facilitate data governance and quality forums, working groups, and steering committees.
Monitor and report on data governance metrics, risks, and issues to senior leadership.
Champion data literacy and promote a culture of responsible data use organization-wide.
Support the development of an AI Governance framework.
Assist in data classification, master data management, metadata management, and data lineage efforts alongside data architects and analysts.

Key Skills & Experience:
Essential:

Proven experience in data governance or data management roles.
Strong understanding of data quality, metadata, master data, and data lifecycle management.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex data concepts for business audiences.
Demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives.
Experience in facilitating cross-functional collaboration and achieving consensus.
Familiarity with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, EU Data Act).
Proficiency in data governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).

Desirable:

Certification in Data Governance or Data Management (e.g., DAMA, DCAM).
Experience in change management and organizational transformation.
Background in data analytics, business intelligence, or IT.
