Are you passionate about data protection, governance, and driving best practices across an organisation? Planet Pharma are looking for a Data Governance Lead to champion data privacy and compliance while shaping our company-wide data culture.


As a Data Governance Lead, you’ll act as the organisation’s Data Protection Officer (DPO) and Caldicott Guardian, ensuring compliance with the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and relevant ISO standards. You’ll be the go-to expert for data privacy, advising leadership, guiding teams, and embedding privacy-by-design across all operations.


What you’ll do

  • Lead data protection compliance and governance across the organisation.
  • Serve as the main contact for the ICO and other regulators.
  • Oversee ISO27001, ISO9001, and ISO13485 certification activities.
  • Develop and maintain data protection and security policies.
  • Support audits, training, and awareness programmes.
  • Manage DPIAs, breach responses, and data subject requests.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to build a strong data culture.


What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a DPO or senior data protection professional.
  • Expert knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Strong understanding of ISO27001 and related standards.
  • Experience in research, healthcare, or not-for-profit environments (desirable).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. CIPP/E, CIPM, CISM, or equivalent) highly desirable.
