What You'll Do

In your new role as a data engineering manager, you’ll be responsible for managing resilient technology solutions, supporting organisational wide data-users, and the transformation of data capabilities to increase value.



  • Manage and lead activity ensuring delivery of data engineering services in a multi-disciplinary team, this involves designing and supporting our operational data stores, data warehouses and managing the implementation of changes to these environments including integrating new systems.
  • Define and maintain SLAs, managing incident, problems and demand ensuring compliance with group, audit, vendor, and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan, organise and develop teams that provide scheduled activity to lead to (365 24/7) systems support services and provide guidance to resolution of incidents and issues.
  • Responsible for the leadership of the Data Engineering Team to lead, motivate, develop, and manage the performance of these colleagues.
  • Technical management and engagement of 3rd party delivery partners.
  • Budget planning, forecasting and strong overall cost centre management are key attributes.
  • Constant focus on skills and capabilities incorporating D&I and resource planning for continuous talent management.

Skills Required

  • Wide experience of managing stakeholders at many levels.
  • Experience estimating, planning, and delivery of IT developments using both internal and external resources (on and offshore)
  • Knowledge of ETL technologies and Data Virtualisation techniques across full data development Lifecycle.
  • Experience of building high performing teams in a structured environment.
  • Knowledge of implementing automated testing in a data environment.
  • Budgetary management and control experience
  • Resource planning and experience of managing a mixture of project and live support activities.
  • Experience leading/managing a team within a data or technical function
