About the internship

  • June to September 2025 for 12 weeks (dates are flexible)
  • Hourly wage of £13.85 (London Living Wage)

What you will be doing

This is an exciting time to join Breathe. Having proven the value of our products in both the automotive and consumer electronics spaces, we are looking for an intern to join our Data and Validation team this summer. Your internship will focus on developing automation tools and data processing pipelines to support our battery testing and validation efforts. You will work closely with our embedded firmware engineers, data analysts, and battery technology specialists to enhance our data workflows and infrastructure. We will provide you with experience and training to develop your skills and knowledge in Python automation, cloud data integration, and firmware development.

Your day to day

  • Contribute to the automation of existing processes, including the management system for battery cyclers.
  • Assist in building Python-based services to extract, process, and manage laboratory data, integrating with SQL/PostgreSQL databases and cloud data platforms.
  • Develop and improve automation logic to optimise battery cycler utilisation, ensuring efficient test scheduling and error reporting.
  • Assist in debugging, maintaining, and improving firmware and software tools.
  • Any additional work that may be deemed from time to time to be critical to product or company success.


Your background

  • You will be a student in Electronic Engineering, Information Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with an emphasis on computer architectures and programming.
  • Available from 1 July for 12 weeks
  • Unfortunately, we cannot sponsor visas for this role
  • Strong ability to code in Python, with demonstrable experience through high-quality university projects or personal initiatives (personal projects preferred).
  • Understanding of unit and integration testing.
  • Familiarity with concurrency and multi-threading.
  • Ability to research information online, read documentation, and interpret technical datasheets.
  • Basic familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure), relational databases, and SQL.
  • Experience with embedded firmware development is a plus, but not essential.
  • Experience using a version control system (e.g., Git) for managing codebase changes effectively is a plus, but not essential.
  • A team player with a proactive attitude, good attention to detail, strong communications skills and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to work in a Kind and Conscientious manner.
