About Brindisa Brindisa, a name inspired by the Spanish word ‘brindis’ meaning “to raise one’s glass in a toast,” has spent over 30 years celebrating the rich and diverse cultures, landscapes, and exceptional foods of Spain. The company honors the skilled individuals who produce remarkable cheeses, hams, meats, fish, and other ingredients now enjoyed throughout the UK.
Founded in 1988 by Monika Linton, Brindisa began as a small venture with the goal of introducing Spain’s culinary delights to a broader audience at a time when knowledge of Spanish gastronomy was nearly nonexistent in the UK. Despite starting with limited resources, Monika’s passion for Spanish food quickly gained traction, and over the years, the business has grown significantly.
Today, Brindisa includes a wholesale operation that supplies hundreds of products to the UK’s finest restaurants, delis, and food halls. Additionally, the company operates one of the first retail outlets in Borough Market, Southwark, which is now recognized as one of Britain’s premier food markets. In Balham, South London, Brindisa also runs a Spanish cheese and charcuterie delicatessen, where customers can enjoy freshly carved Iberico Bellota ham.
What started as a small endeavor driven by a love for Spanish food has become a celebrated staple in the UK’s gastronomic landscape.
