We’re looking for aCommercial Director – Media Saleswho expects more from their career. As part of the Media Sales team, this role will hold overall accountability and leadership of a high-performing team responsible for directly selling online, in-store and off-site retail media solutions to some of the world’s most prominent advertisers. You will be expected to drive strategic growth, maximize revenue, and build influential relationships with senior Tesco and client stakeholders. The Commercial Director – Media Sales will shape category plans, optimize client engagement, and ensure seamless execution of strategies to achieve ambitious growth targets.

What you’ll be working on

  • Drive revenue for Tesco Media by creating an extensive network of relationships across both client & media agencies, developing effective strategy and activation plans.
  • Own accountability for the overall business unit revenue target, developing clear strategy for meeting your targets and driving sustainable revenue growth in your area.
  • Passionately advocate and model the delivery of first-class customer service to your division, holding your team to the highest standards.
  • Partner with Strategy, Planning, Product, Operations and the Tesco Category Director to identify high-growth opportunities for your clients.
  • Drive deeper partnership engagement through scaled coverage across key stakeholders (Shopper, Brand, Digital, Media, Commerce & Loyalty teams).
  • Have a thorough understanding of all key performance indicators and trends through business reporting tools with the ability to turn strategy into action to meet challenging targets.

Retail Media Expertise

  • Be a key evangelist of Retail Media thought leadership across your category and industry events.
  • Proactively provide thought leadership into your team’s client accounts through a detailed awareness of relevant market trends affecting their business, and developments in the wider advertising and communications industry.
  • Understand the competitive landscape and market trends they represent the business at conferences, industry and networking events.

Product Development

  • Maintain a deep understanding and expertise of Tesco Media products and roadmap.
  • Be confident challenging client strategy to maximise the role Tesco Media plays in delivering meaningful business outcomes.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead your division with inspiration, motivation, and forward-thinking strategies aimed at continuous growth.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management of Senior Managers, ensuring their performance, development, and satisfaction.
  • Passionately advocate and model the delivery of first-class customer service to your division, holding your team to the highest standards.

What we expect from you

  • Proven successful track record of Media / Sales experience either within retail media and/or online advertising.
  • Strong experience of team leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a strong sales pipeline, forecast accurately and achieve challenging quarterly and annual sales targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and own client relationships.
  • Proven successful track record of managing external client relationships of all levels.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and collaboration skills.
