Our client is an exciting start-up still in stealth mode, focusing on the immunotherapy market. Currently building out their cell sciences team, they have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Scientist to join their Multi-Omics team. As an Associate Scientist, you will bring existing experience in multi-omics, analytics and target discovery.

The Role:

This position focuses on supporting and executing multi-omics workflows as part of a collaborative team. The goal is to develop the next generation of mammalian expression systems and cell lines to enable efficient pharmaceutical bioprocesses and cost-effective immunotherapeutics.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and contribute to the generation and interpretation of multi-omics datasets to advance cell line characterization and target discovery pipelines.

Develop, optimize, and implement high-throughput sample preparation methods, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), transcriptomics, and other advanced analytical assays to accelerate research.

Perform mammalian suspension cell culture and related techniques, such as passaging, banking, nucleofection, and genotyping, as well as assays including western blotting and FACS.

Prepare and maintain key project deliverables, including SOPs, training documents, and COSHH forms.

Train team members to a high level of competency to ensure data integrity.

Accurately document research findings in laboratory notebooks.

Present findings regularly in group meetings and provide updates to project teams and stakeholders.

Contribute to routine laboratory maintenance, including equipment care, cleaning schedules, and consumables management.

Share responsibility for out-of-hours cell culture maintenance.

Adhere to and promote laboratory health, safety, and quality procedures.

Assist with laboratory risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety protocols.

Maintain project confidentiality and ensure adherence to protocols.

Stay updated on new technologies and relevant scientific developments to identify potential improvements and cost-reduction opportunities.
Required Qualifications & Experience

MSc in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field, with 3+ years of industry experience, OR

PhD in a relevant field with 1+ years of industry experience.

Proficiency in generating and working with large datasets, including transcriptomic, proteomic, or metabolomic datasets.

Experience developing high-throughput methods (e.g., HT NGS) for automated target discovery pipelines.

Familiarity with bioprocess-relevant cell lines such as CHO or HEK293 for monoclonal antibody production and characterization.

Expertise in mammalian cell culture techniques, including passaging, banking, transfection, nucleofection, and genotyping.

Experience with mammalian cell line development, including GM/GE cell lines, single-cell cloning, and CRISPR/ORF library screens.

Skilled in molecular biology techniques, including FACS, qRT-PCR, Western blot, and ELISA.

Strong experimental design and troubleshooting skills.

Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Experience planning experiments and meeting project timelines.

Strong numeracy, computer literacy, and communication skills.

Desirable Experience:

Familiarity with analytical methods such as HPLC/UPLC and LC-MS for antibody characterization.

Knowledge of experimental techniques such as metabolic flux analysis (MFA).

Experience applying Design of Experiments (DOE) principles to optimize experimental designs.
