We’re embarking on a newand exciting phase of the bank’s transformation agenda, and dataarchitecture operation plays a crucial role in achieving ourmission to simplify, reduce risk and enable customer engagement andpersonalisation. Supporting the development of architectures fordata intensive solutions and governing the data architecture of thebank is critical to driving simplification, improving dataefficiency, and ensuring data risk stays withinappetite.

As an ArchitectLead, you’ll be defining and communicating the current, resultantand target state of data intensive solutions and data architecturegovernance. You’ll be making sure that the data architecturegovernance across the bank’s franchises and functions’ dataarchitecture links to, and is informed by our overall strategy andarchitecture, and produces the architecture outcomes. We’ll look toyou strongly influence the development of business strategieswithin your function and across the bank, identifyingtransformational opportunities for our businesses and technologyareas associated with both new and existingtechnologies.

In addition,you’ll manage and mentor a team of specialist and senior dataarchitects dedicated to supporting solution architecture for dataintensive solutions and exercising data architecture governance ofthe bank fostering a collaborative, high performance culture thatencourages innovation. You’ll also drive adoption, enforcement andgovernance of all data architecture artefacts, controls, targetarchitecture, patterns and standards across the bank and act as theexpert in data architecture governance for thebank.

As well as this, you’llbe:

• Translatingarchitecture roadmaps and governance targets into packages of workthat allow frequent incremental delivery of value to be included inproduct backlog
• Defining, creating,maintaining, enforcing and governing data architecture policies andstandards, including the governance of data flows and data’slifecycle management, and the reviews and approvals of dataarchitecture designs ensuring alignment to bank wide architectureand data management policies andgovernance
• Working closely with data ownersand, business and technology leaders across the three lines ofdefence to ensure alignment to data architecture governancestrategy and targets
• Leading review, monitoringand reporting of data architecture governanceeffectiveness
• Seeking out and utilisingcontinuous feedback, fostering adaptive design and engineeringpractices to drive the collaboration of programmes and teams arounda common technical vision
• Leading, influencingand governing data architecture governance and data solutionadvisory ensuring these meet the bank’s business and data strategydemand
• Identifying gaps in data architectureculture and skills across your areas of management and influencingsupporting plans to resolve, providing mentorship wherenecessary

Theskills you'll need

We’relooking for someone with a background in defining architectures androadmaps for complex enterprises and a background that combinesarchitecture and project or programme governance. To thrive in thisrole, you’ll need expert knowledge and experience of architecturegovernance, and in-depth knowledge of enterprise data architectureand solution data architecture with good knowledge of the remainingarchitecture and data management disciplines. You’ll also haveextensive enterprise data architecture and data architecturegovernance experience in the financial industryarchitecture.

You’ll be athought leader of data architecture governance and solutions fordata intensive programmes for the bank, influencing business andtechnology strategies across the franchises and functions. You’llhave excellent communication and influencing skills with theability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts tocolleagues, up to senior leadership level, along with a goodunderstanding of Agile methodologies with experience of working inan Agile team.

You’ll alsodemonstrate:

• Experienceas an enterprise architect with focus on architecturegovernance
• Experience in large enterprise orhighly data intensive environments
• Experienceof developing, syndicating and communicating architecture designs,reviews and proposals for action
• Experience andin-depth knowledge of data, architecture and governance frameworkssuch as DAMA, DCAM, TOGAF andARCHIMATE
• Experience and knowledge of datarelated regulations such as GDPR, CCPA,PCI DSS, BCBS 239 andsimilar
• Strong knowledge of wider data andarchitecture topics such business architecture, data governance,data quality management, master data management and data controlsmanagement
• Architecture knowledge of Tableau,AWS data services stack, Informatica and at least one supplier indata management, graph DBs, MDM and NoSQLDatabases
• Critical thinking skills, enablingyou to cut through complexity, and make sound decisions andrecommendations that are carefully balanced againstrisk
