Bates & Bradshaw are recruiting for a driven and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant wo work within a practice environment?

An established and expanding accountancy firm in the region is seeking a talented and proactive individual to join their forward-thinking finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to become a key contact for a diverse portfolio of clients and make a genuine impact on their financial performance and growth.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Managing the financial needs of a dedicated client portfolio, delivering accurate and insightful monthly/quarterly management accounts.

  • Producing clear profit and loss reports, analysing key variances, and providing strategic advice.

  • Handling sales invoicing and associated reporting with precision.

  • Managing accruals and prepayments in line with best accounting practices.

  • Performing bank reconciliations, postings, and balance checks across multiple accounts.

  • Maintaining petty cash records and posting relevant journals for various clients.

  • Processing and reconciling daily bank receipts.

  • Assisting in annual budget preparation, contributing valuable financial input.

  • Setting up new suppliers and ensuring data integrity within client accounting systems.

  • Producing timely reports on debtors and creditors, identifying potential issues before they escalate.

  • Preparing and submitting accurate VAT returns in compliance with current legislation.

    What We’re Looking For:

  • AAT Qualified

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Sage, Xero, Quickbooks experience with other software is a bonus.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly to clients.

  • Proven client-facing experience with a proactive, service-driven approach.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and a methodical approach to tasks.

  • A positive, problem-solving attitude and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
