Are you experienced in payments operations and interested in how AI can improve the way finance teams work?

Absolute Recruit is partnering with a fintech business to recruit a Payments Analyst. Combining day-to-day payments activity with process improvement, this role would suit someone who enjoys investigating discrepancies, working with data and finding ways to reduce manual tasks.

You’ll help ensure payments are processed accurately and efficiently, while supporting the implementation of AI tools and automation across payments operations.

The role
  • Process and monitor payments, investigating failed, delayed or incorrectly allocated transactions.
  • Complete reconciliations, resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate transaction records.
  • Liaise with banking partners, payment providers and internal teams to resolve queries.
  • Analyse payment data to identify trends, recurring issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Identify practical uses for AI tools, including transaction analysis, exception reporting and reducing repetitive administration.
  • Support the selection, testing and implementation of AI and automation tools, measuring their impact on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain appropriate controls, data security and human oversight when introducing new technology.
  • Document processes and help colleagues adopt new tools and ways of working.
About you
  • Experience within payments operations, reconciliations or a related finance operations role.
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence investigating large volumes of transaction data.
  • Good Excel skills and an analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • A practical interest in AI and automation, ideally with experience using or helping implement tools in a business environment.
  • An understanding of the importance of accuracy, controls and confidentiality within financial services.
  • Clear communication skills and a proactive approach to improving processes.
Fintech or financial services experience would be advantageous, as would exposure to payment platforms, international payments or multiple currencies.
This is an opportunity to combine hands-on payments experience with a meaningful role in improving how a fintech’s operations run.
