Lead AI & Data Scientist

London/ Hybrid | up to £140k + Benefits

Most data leadership roles sit at one end of the spectrum. Either highly technical, buried in models and architecture, or heavily stakeholder-focused with little involvement in the actual delivery.

This role sits in the middle (or both). They need your skills in a client and stakeholder facing, upwards and downwards management and technical understanding.

You'll lead a growing Data science function responsible for delivering real-world AI, machine learning and data science solutions across a complex professional services environment. The challenge is not simply building models. It's understanding business problems, translating them into practical solutions, and helping senior stakeholders understand exactly how technology can create value.

The team is already delivering across machine learning, GenAI, document intelligence, search, retrieval, automation and knowledge management. The next phase involves expanding AI capability, shaping a longer-term roadmap around emerging technologies such as Agentic AI, and driving adoption across the wider business.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading a team of Data Scientists and AI specialists

Defining Data & AI strategy and technical direction

Designing and delivering Machine Learning, NLP, GenAI and RAG-based solutions

Working directly with senior business stakeholders and clients

Translating complex technical concepts into clear business language

Driving delivery of AI products from concept through to production

Establishing governance, evaluation frameworks and responsible AI controls

Coaching and mentoring technical teams while remaining hands-on when required

To be successful, you'll need a strong background in Data Science, Machine Learning and modern AI technologies, combined with the communication skills to operate confidently from technical workshops through to executive-level discussions.

If you can articulate complex AI concepts in 30 seconds, influence stakeholders at every level, and lead a team focused on solving difficult business problems with data - please apply.

An opportunity to help shape the future direction of AI within a business that is investing heavily in the technology, in a disruptive industry and determined to stay ahead of the curve

Where to Advertise Data Science Jobs in the UK (2026 Guide)

Where to advertise data science jobs UK in 2026: the specialist boards, communities and channels that actually reach senior and lead data science talent. Data science spans a broad and often misunderstood spectrum — from statistical modelling and experimental design through to machine learning engineering, product analytics and AI research. The strongest candidates identify firmly with specific subdisciplines and are frustrated by adverts that conflate data scientist with data analyst, business intelligence developer or machine learning engineer. General job boards produce high application volumes for data roles but consistently fail to match specialist data science profiles with the right opportunities. This guide, published by DataScienceJobs.co.uk, covers where to advertise data science roles in the UK in 2026, how the main platforms compare, what employers should expect to pay, and what the data says about hiring across different role types.
