Exposure Management Analyst

Location: City of London (Hybrid)

Are you a data-savvy professional or a high-calibre graduate looking to build a career in insurance analytics? We are an established insurance and reinsurance company seeking an Exposure Management Analyst to join our growing Modelling team.

In this role, you will analyze portfolio exposures using a variety of vendor and internal models. You will play a key part in helping the exposure management team develop, refine, and set up cutting-edge processes and systems that directly impact our underwriting strategies.

Key Responsibilities

- Underwriting Support: Provide high-quality exposure reports to underwriters, enabling accurate risk-taking decisions and ensuring all data is precisely captured.

- Data & Model Management: Manipulate and input exposure data into industry-standard catastrophe modelling software (e.g., Moody's RMS).

- Portfolio & Variance Analysis: Run and monitor Exceedance Probability (EP) and internal aggregate model outputs, conducting extensive portfolio reviews.

- Stakeholder Collaboration: Manage the data flow process by liaising with underwriting units, communicating modeled numbers, and highlighting model changes or updates.

- Reporting & Compliance: Assist with regular internal and external market reporting, including quarterly loss estimates, aggregate reporting, and post-event loss analysis.

- Innovation & Development: Utilise and help develop internal proprietary models, participating in ad-hoc projects to expand our overall Exposure Management capabilities.

Experience & Qualifications

- Education: A minimum of a 2:1 (second-class honours) degree, ideally in a highly numerate or related field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Data Science), or equivalent experience.

- Experience: Ideally 1 to 2 years of experience within an Exposure Management or Catastrophe Modeling team (experience with Property/Specialty Treaty or Direct & Facultative is a plus). High-quality, driven graduates will also be highly considered.

Technical Skills

- Strong computer literacy, with working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Excel, Power BI, and Access.

- Familiarity or experience with Moody's RMS and SQL is highly desirable.

- A foundational understanding of the key principles of catastrophe insurance, loss modeling, and risk aggregation.

Core Competencies

- Analytical Mindset: Exceptional numeracy skills with the ability to handle, manipulate, and analyse large, complex datasets.

- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively translate complex data for internal and external stakeholders.

- Adaptability: A flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to changing regulatory requirements, new business classes, and shifting priorities.

- Drive & Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within a team while managing your own time effectively to meet tight deadlines under your own initiative.

- Compliance & Risk Management: Maintain a strong commitment to industry standards, corporate risk frameworks, and relevant financial conduct and prudential regulatory rules.
