The Role

• Lead the data research function and define the strategy for identifying and evaluating new data sources.
• Assess the quality, reliability, and commercial value of datasets to determine whether they are worth purchasing and integrating into products.
• Design and oversee statistical analysis, modelling, and time series research to validate potential data assets.
• Work closely with stakeholders across data, partnerships, and technology teams to develop new research opportunities.
• Drive end-to-end research projects, from hypothesis generation through to evidence-based recommendations.
• Improve data evaluation frameworks, standards, and processes.
• Manage and mentor a small team while fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Support the adoption of AI and advanced analytical techniques to improve research efficiency and quality.

Your Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience in data science, statistics, quantitative research, or a related field.
• Python skills, with experience applying statistical analysis and time series techniques to complex datasets.
• Strong understanding of data quality assessment, feature engineering, and modelling.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience evaluating new datasets and translating findings into commercial recommendations.
• Ability to lead research projects from concept through to delivery.
• Experience working with alternative data, financial data, market intelligence, or data products is advantageous.
