Harnham are working with a fast-growing financial services organisation looking to hire an Applied Data Scientist to support and enhance its fraud prevention capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity for a data science professional who enjoys combining machine learning, analytics and business insight to tackle complex fraud challenges

THE ROLE

This is a mid-level Data Scientist position focused on fraud detection and mitigation. You will work across the full data science lifecycle, helping to develop fraud prevention strategies, build machine learning models and generate actionable insights using both internal and external datasets.

Specifically, you can expect to be involved in:

• Collecting, processing and analysing large, complex datasets to identify fraud trends, risks and opportunities.
• Designing, developing and maintaining fraud detection, identity resolution and predictive machine learning models.
• Evaluating new data sources and technology solutions through analysis, testing and proof-of concept initiatives.
• Monitoring model performance, producing reporting and visualising key insights for stakeholders.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams on fraud, compliance and customer verification initiatives.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful Data Scientist will have the following skills and experience:

• Experience within fraud analytics, fraud prevention or a related risk-focused data science environment.
• Strong machine learning and statistical modelling skills, with hands-on Python experience (including common data science libraries).
• Proficiency in SQL and experience working with multiple structured and external data sources.
• Experience deploying analytical or machine learning solutions into production environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
