Data Engineer - Professional Services - £75,000 - Leeds (hybrid)

A leading global professional services firm is seeking a Design Data Engineer to join its growing data and analytics team. This role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in shaping the firm's data infrastructure and driving the intelligent use of data across global operations.

The successful candidate will design, develop, and optimise data pipelines, models, and systems that enable smarter insights, improved efficiency, and enhanced decision-making across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines, integrations, and ETL processes to support analytics and reporting.
  • Architect and optimize data models and database structures, ensuring scalability, consistency, and business alignment.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into actionable technical solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance through validation, monitoring, and documentation processes.
  • Implement and oversee data security and compliance measures, protecting sensitive business and client information.
  • Produce clear technical documentation for data architectures, workflows, and processes.
  • Remain up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering and information management.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in data engineering, with a strong emphasis on data design and architecture.
  • Proven proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases.
  • Practical experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark.
  • In-depth understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL frameworks.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively.
