Role overview:

As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:

•    Design and implement data architectures for new products and capabilities, ensuring scalability, reliability and performance
•    Create technical blueprints for data flows, storage patterns and processing pipelines that meet business needs
•    Evaluate and recommend technology choices that balance performance, cost and future scalability
•    Establish and embed data modelling standards and best practices across engineering teams
•    Optimise existing architectures to improve efficiency, cost effectiveness and resilience
•    Partner with product teams to translate requirements into clear architectural solutions
•    Document architectural decisions and maintain an up-to-date technical design repository
•    Provide architectural guidance and support to engineering teams during implementation
•    Collaborate with enterprise architecture and platform teams to agree hand-offs and ensure alignment

You will work closely with colleagues across engineering, product, enterprise architecture and transformation to design scalable, secure and cost-efficient data solutions. Partnering with product managers and business stakeholders, you will translate requirements into architectures that unlock value and drive innovation. You will also collaborate with security, compliance and data governance teams to maintain high standards across all platforms and build trusted relationships across the organisation.

You will need:

•    Proven experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures in a complex environment
•    Expertise in modern data platforms including Snowflake, Databricks and leading cloud services
•    Strong understanding of event-driven architectures and real-time data processing
•    Experience applying data modelling techniques to both analytical and operational systems
•    Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
•    Cloud architecture certifications (Azure or GCP) are beneficial
•    Certifications in modern data platforms are desirable
