Octopus Energy Generation (OEGEN) seeks an enthusiastic and analytical Systems & Data Analyst to join our growing transformation team. This is an entry-level role ideal for someone who is passionate about systems management, data governance, decision making, enterprise architecture, and driving continuous improvement. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our key business systems (Yooz, eFront, SkySpecs, Ardoq), supporting our data-driven transformation journey, and developing your skills across data stewardship, process innovation, and stakeholder engagement.

Whilst we maintain a degree of flexibility, this position requires an average of 3 days in the office per week

What you'll do

Systems Management & Support
  • You'll be the first responder for our vital systems: Yooz, eFront, SkySpecs, and Ardoq.
  • Lend a hand with Databricks-CDM activities
  • Keep our system settings, user permissions, and data integrity sparkling clean.
  • Talk with our system vendors to tackle issues and conjure up improvements.
  • Help your colleagues become system pros by assisting with training sessions.
Data Onboarding & Quality Assurance
  • You'll be the gatekeeper for new counterparties, funds, assets, and projects, ensuring they get onboarded smoothly.
  • Validate, reconcile, and quality-check data. We're talking super reliable data, every time.
  • Spot those sneaky data issues before they cause trouble and work with the team to fix’em
Process Improvement & Documentation
  • Help us craft awesome onboarding playbooks and workflows.
  • Share all the cool tips and tricks with the team, making sure our best practices are clear and easy to find.
  • Always be on the lookout for ways to make our processes simpler, snappier, and just plain better.

What you'll need

  • A brain trained in an analytical or numerical discipline (think Mathlete, Finance Whiz, Data Scientist in Training, Economics Guru).
  • Seriously sharp analytical thinking and an eagle eye for detail.
  • Comfortable learning and managing multiple business systems.
  • Top-notch interpersonal and communication skills, with a knack for working with others.
  • Organised, proactive, and not afraid of a little ambiguity or complexity.
Beneficial skills
  • Familiarity with finance processes (e.g., accounting, invoicing, fund management).
  • Experience with data tools such as Python, Excel (pivot tables, Power Query), SQL, or APIs.
  • Experience documenting processes or workflows (e.g., using Visio, Miro).
  • Exposure or interest in modern data platforms (e.g., Databricks, PowerBI, Ardoq).
  • Interest in emerging technologies, including automation and AI.
