DeepL has millions of passionate users around the globe, both consumer and enterprise. These users generate a vast amount of data that DeepL teams utilise to constantly improve the customer experience, the product and internal collaboration and process.

Our Data teams, both the central Data Track and embedded Data Community teams, are agents of learning and change - extracting, enriching and utilising data to make better decisions.

The Product Insights specifically is focused on product usage data and helping to drive impactful product decisions at pace and at scale. This includes product analytics, insights and experimentation. Their quest is great product decisions that will improve product and business success, lead to more sales and more satisfied customers.

We are hiring a Staff Data Scientist to drive our product analytics and experimentation efforts. This is a high-impact role with a flexible mix of stakeholder and team management, and advanced hands-on data science work.

In this role you will get to collaborate closely with technical and non-technical teams across the business to help drive data and insights decisions and build a customer-centric, learning organisation.

You will also lead the adoption of new self-service tools and infrastructure, including a new cloud data warehouse and experimentation platform.

Your responsibilities

Product Analytics Leadership

  • Help build and scale a high-leverage analytics function focused on impact, efficiency, and continuous improvement

  • Own prioritization and execution across both tactical requests and strategic initiatives

Product Partnership & Enablement

  • Advocate for an evidence-based product and experimentation culture by aligning diverse stakeholder perspectives, addressing conflicting priorities, and building trust in experimental results.

  • Translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders

  • Develop self-service tools and dashboards that empower non-technical users to explore and act on data

Experimentation Strategy

  • Drive experimentation across the company by actively working with teams to design, set up, debug, and interpret experiments as part of the day-to-day work.

  • Design, implement, and continuously evolve experimentation practices, including tooling and statistical frameworks

  • Support product teams in running rigorous, scalable experiments to validate ideas and measure impact

Data Platform & Tooling Adoption

  • Drive adoption of the cloud data warehouse, experimentation platform, and other core data products across Product and Engineering

  • Partner with Analytics and Data Engineers to ensure data assets are reliable, discoverable, and user-friendly

Qualities we look for

  • 8–10+ years of experience in data science, product analytics, or similar roles, including leadership or mentorship

  • Expert in SQL and data transformation tools (e.g., dbt); able to build and maintain robust data pipelines

  • Strong Python skills for analysis and prototyping, preferably in notebook-based workflows

  • Deep understanding of experimentation methods, design, and statistical analysis

  • Comfortable with modern cloud data platforms (e.g., DataBricks, Snowflake, BigQuery)

  • Hands-on experience with third-party experimentation or product analytics platforms at scale

  • Experience blending quantitative and qualitative data to drive customer and product insights

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to tell compelling stories with data

  • Self-starter with a bias toward action and an ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments

  • Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple workstreams, and act as a product owner for data initiatives
