TheSolution Development Consultantis a key member of Workiva's Growth Solutions team. This team creates innovative solutions on the Workiva platform, driving commercial growth and customer satisfaction. It focuses on exploring new markets, designing and refining solutions, and establishing best practices for new and emerging use cases on the Workiva platform.

As aSolution Development Consultant, you will play a critical role in shaping solutions on the Workiva platform, particularly in the field ofcarbon emissions accounting & reporting technology. You’ll work cross-functionally with various teams to strategically build solutions, gathering feedback, and using insights to guide ongoing solution development. While this role does involve collaboration with external delivery partners and clients, itsprimary focus is on solution developmentand enabling strategic implementation methodology.

What You’ll Do

Incubate Solutions: Organize, ideate, design, and iterate on the software solution architecture, utilizing the Workiva platform’s current capabilities to enhance and refine our solutions for decarbonization, climate, or sustainability related client outcomes. You will develop a deep understanding of Workiva’s products and offerings to align the functionality of our platform to differentiated decarbonization and environmental related solutions and align to diverse set of client needs and regulatory changes

Support Product Development: Work closely with Workiva’s product development lifecycle by providing strategic feedback based on client insights and field tests, ensuring platform functionality aligns with carbon accounting and reporting requirements. Draft requirements based on feedback from engagements with clients and partners to support an iterative solution design process. This feedback loop will help refine solutions for broader use cases, meeting both immediate and evolving client needs

Documentation & Training: Develop and produce documentation and training materials that enable internal services teams, external partners, and clients to implement carbon accounting solutions with consistent quality

Pre-Sales Support: Participate in strategic pre-sales engagements with prospects to test solution designs and gather early feedback, setting accurate expectations about the solution’s functionality and strategic implementation

Ongoing Learning & Knowledge Enhancement: Stay informed about the latest carbon accounting and reporting standards, trends, and technologies through self-guided learning and Workiva-provided training. Maintain and enhance knowledge of the Workiva platform and its application to carbon accounting use cases

What You’ll Need

Minimum Qualifications

3+ yearsof experience with carbon emissions accounting and techniques(Greenhouse Gas Protocol), in a subject matter expert or technology implementation role for client-facing engagements

Undergraduate degree or equivalent career experience

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on experience with complex software platforms, SaaS, cloud technologies, or data architectures

Experience in advisory, reporting, and/or technical implementations services for broader sustainability management topics (e.g. CSRD, SBTi)

Experience working with external implementation partners.

Enhanced technology knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

Experience with SQL, JSON, REST, or Python

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Strong presentation skills – ability to communicate topics clearly and succinctly to various audiences, both internally and externally.

Self-motivated, with a strong propensity for action, results, and continuous improvement

Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change in business processes

Travel Requirement & Working Conditions

Up to 20% travel for regular customer meetings and events

Reliable internet access required for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office
