A range of specialisms exist in this essential and rewarding role. You may specialise in just one area or operate across multiple in Systems, Cloud and Software Architecture disciplines within the Cyber Security domain.

Typically, you will be involved in one or more of the following:
  • Architect resilient, scalable, and maintainable solutions that support Agile and DevSecOps practices.
  • Capture and communicate architecture, design and vision to a team
  • Champion the DevSecOps culture within the organization to integrate security practices seamlessly into the development lifecycle
  • Support software teams in planning work delivery streams and understanding build and deployment dependencies
  • Deployment and management of container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes for automating application deployment, scaling, and management.
  • Technical lead for a team of engineers and developers, providing clear guidance and architectural vision. Focus on both the what and the how in the delivery pipeline, looking to drive efficiencies and reliability into deliver.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • Demonstrable experience as a Software / Cloud Architect
  • Skilled in Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, JIRA, Confluence) to manage projects efficiently and transparently.
  • A good working knowledge of a hyper-scaled cloud platform (ideally AWS)
  • Ability act across teams supporting Bids, Research and Delivery streams, ensuring coherency in delivery.
  • Expertise in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI or GitHub Actions.
  • Experienced with infrastructure as code (IaC) technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet to automate the setup and maintenance of environments.
  • Good working knowledge of networking with experience automating network tasks including deployments and configurations using advanced network management tools.
