Why were hiring:

We are seeking a Cloud Solution Architect to join our WPP Open team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering complex technical solutions that meet our business needs, with a specific focus on bridging the gap between our technical capabilities and client understanding. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, exceptional client-facing skills, and the ability to drive cross-team collaboration.

WPP’s investment in AI and tech has enabled us to embed capabilities into the end-to-end marketing operating process. These capabilities have been structured into an ecosystem comprising of Studios that contain applications and modules, Brains that are AI services, and an Operating System. This ecosystem is called Open.

What youll be doing:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the WPP Open team to drive cross-team engagement on critical design elements.
  • Partner in discussions and agreements on major technical components such as data architecture, asset management, and operation.
  • Work closely with the Operations Lead to assess and manage technical impacts.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Support and manage internal forums and stakeholder communications.
  • Build consensus among diverse groups of stakeholders.

Architecture Development:

  • Create and maintain customer-facing architecture assets.
  • Develop comprehensive solution designs that align with client requirements and industry best practices.

Client Engagement:

  • Lead technical discussions with clients, including IT meetings and presentations.
  • Respond to and complete onboarding questionnaires.
  • Serve as a primary technical point of contact for clients, effectively communicating Opens capabilities and addressing architectural questions.

Technical Expertise:

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

What youll need:

Experience:

  • Client-Facing Solution Architecture:Proven experience working directly with clients as a trusted technical advisor, translating complex technical concepts into clear and concise for both technical and non-technical audiences. This includes:
    • Leading architectural discussions and workshops.
    • Presenting solutions and addressing client concerns.
    • Building strong relationships with client engineering and IT teams.
  • Cloud Platform Expertise:Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing solutions on major cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure). Experience with Kubernetes and containerization technologies is highly desirable.
  • Technical Communication & Documentation:Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create high-quality, client-ready documentation, including architectural diagrams, proposals, and technical presentations.
  • Collaborative Approach:A strong team player who can effectively collaborate with internal stakeholders, including sales, engineering, and product teams, to deliver comprehensive solutions.
  • Desirable Experience:
    • Experience in the marketing technology (MarTech) industry is a plus.
    • Consultancy background with a proven track record in delivering successful client engagements.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Specialism in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in IT solution design and implementation of SaaS / packaged solutions.
  • Proven track record of successful client-facing roles.
  • Background in solutions design across various technology stacks.
  • Certifications in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or relevant technologies are highly desirable.
  • Experience with agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand for non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues.
