Description

Senior Power BI Developer & Data Engineer. 12month Fixed Term Contract. We have a blended work to your diary approach where we flex where, when and how we work, with attendance at our hub spaces 1 or 2 times a month – as team meetings and client. Join AMPA’s Data & Analytics team as a Senior Power BI Developer & Data Engineer, delivering enterprise grade analytics and data solutions across debt finance (DebtTrak/Aderant) and Peppermint CMS reporting. You’ll work closely with our Data Manager & Fabric Administrator to establish a scalable, governed data platform, flexing between development, engineering, and modelling as priorities shift. The role is remote-first, with UK hub attendance for collaboration.

What you will be doing:
  • Power BI Development & Engineering: Lead the design, build, and optimise Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models for finance, debt, and operation teams
  • Engineer data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines) and Azure integration
  • Model data from DebtTrak, Aderant, and Dynamics-based CMS into governed, blended and scalable datasets
  • Implement incremental refresh, composite models, calculation groups, and performance tuning
  • Configure and manage Power BI workspaces, deployment pipelines, and access controls
  • Automate reporting workflows and enable self-service analytics for business users
Financial Modelling & Reporting
  • Deliver validated financial models and role-based reports for debt, finance and legal services
  • Integrate and reconcile data across multiple systems, ensuring accuracy and auditability
  • Lead the transition from legacy reporting (SSRS) to Power BI, embedding best practices
Platform Enablement & Collaboration
  • Champion the co-development of Fabric utilities, templates, and standards with the Fabric Administrator
  • Drive adoption of data product conventions, Git integration, and monitoring/logging for scale
  • Partner with Data Engineering, Finance, Legal Operations, and business stakeholders to mature the platform
  • Document solutions, create user guides, and contribute to a knowledge base for repeatability
Governance & Compliance
  • Embed GDPR, data protection, and least privilege access in solutions
  • Certify datasets, apply sensitivity labels, and maintain audit-ready documentation
  • Implement data quality checks, maintain data lineage documentation, and support audit readiness
  • Ensure robust security and compliance across all reporting assets
What you will need

Skills and experience Must have:

  • Proven delivery of enterprise Power BI solutions (DAX, Power Query M, SQL)
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Dataflows Gen2, Pipelines)
  • Azure fundamentals (ADLS, managed identities, DevOps/Git)
  • Dimensional modelling, data product thinking, performance optimisation
  • Experience building financial/debt-related models and reports

Nice to have:

  • Domain experience with Aderant and Dynamics/Peppermint
  • Legal services data and finance process knowledge
  • Automation of testing and documentation
  • Microsoft Certified Power BI Data Analyst or Fabric Analytics Engineer
