BI Developer Hybrid – Ipswich (3 days onsite, Tuesday & Wednesday mandatory) Up to £45,000

Are you a BI Developer who loves turning raw data into meaningful, commercial insights? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a newly restructured data team that is transforming how the business uses analytics.

REED Technology are working with an organisation that is rolling out Pyramid Analytics as its central BI platform—replacing several legacy systems—and needs someone who can turn data into compelling stories, not just dashboards. If you thrive in stakeholder-facing roles, can communicate insights clearly, and enjoy working with modern BI tools, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

  • Taking ownership of BI development in the new Pyramid Analytics environment.
  • Designing and building intuitive dashboards that drive decisions across the business.
  • Translating stakeholder requirements into clear, actionable insights—your communication skills matter as much as your technical skills.
  • Using SQL and Python to shape and model data for reporting and analytics.
  • Ensuring data quality and performing data cleansing as required.
  • Automating report delivery using tools such as Workato.
  • Presenting insights directly to senior leaders and business users.
  • Supporting the Data Engineering team to ensure models and pipelines align with BI requirements.
  • Championing data storytelling across the organisation.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience developing BI dashboards (Pyramid Analytics or Power BI).
  • Strong analytical mindset with excellent data storytelling and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and communicate insights clearly without relying on colleagues for guidance.
  • Strong SQL skills and understanding of data models and data principles.
  • Experience with mobile-responsive dashboards and self-service analytics.

Desirable

  • Experience with cloud platforms (Snowflake, Azure, BigQuery).
  • Python skills.
  • Experience in agile delivery environments.
  • Understanding of GDPR and data governance.
  • BI tool certifications.

The BI team has historically been highly technical; you will bring the insight and storytelling capability they currently lack. You’ll influence how the business adopts Pyramid Analytics and how stakeholders consume data. The organisation has an ambitious data strategy and strong leadership support.

Why Data Science Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

Data science once meant advanced statistics, machine learning models and coding in Python or R. In the UK today, it has become one of the most in-demand professions across sectors — from healthcare to finance, retail to government. But as the field matures, employers now expect more than technical modelling skills. Modern data science is multidisciplinary. It requires not just coding and algorithms, but also legal knowledge, ethical reasoning, psychological insight, linguistic clarity and human-centred design. Data scientists are expected to interpret, communicate and apply data responsibly, with awareness of law, human behaviour and accessibility. In this article, we’ll explore why data science careers in the UK are becoming more multidisciplinary, how these five disciplines intersect with data science, and what job-seekers & employers need to know to succeed in this transformed field.

Data Science Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Data Science Department

Organisations from finance, retail, health, government, and beyond are using data to drive decisions, automate processes, personalise services, predict trends, detect fraud, and more. To do that well, companies don’t just need good data scientists; they need teams with clearly defined roles, responsibilities, workflows, collaboration, and governance. If you're aiming for a role in data science or recruiting for one, understanding the structure of a data science department—and who does what—can make all the difference. This article breaks down the key roles, how they interact across the lifecycle of a data science project, what skills and qualifications are typical in the UK, expected salary ranges, challenges, trends, and how to build or grow an effective team.
