An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent Senior Medical Statistician & Statistical Programmer to join the UKCRC fully registered Derby Clinical Trials Support Unit (Derby CTSU). Derby CTSU actively supports high-quality, multi-centre studies across various disease areas, sponsored by both UK-based and international sponsors.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative individual with the following qualifications and skills:

  • Education: MSc in Medical Statistics or an equivalent degree
  • Experience: Significant experience as a medical statistician/statistical programmer in a CTU or similar organization in the UK, with a strong background in a variety of trial designs and statistical analysis methods.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Stata programming, specifically in writing .ado and .dlg files. Additional knowledge of R programming and the R Shiny package is highly desirable.
  • Leadership: Experience in leading and managing a multi-disciplinary team within a Clinical Trials Unit is desirable.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.

Reporting to the Head of Medical Statistics and Data Management, you will:

  • Develop and apply advanced statistical programming to enhance service improvement initiatives and optimise processes. You will develop and maintain Stata programming solutions, including writing .ado and .dlg files
  • Manage and mentor a team of medical statisticians.
  • Lead expert statistical support and consultancy service for researchers.
  • Support investigators in trial design, funding application development, statistical analysis, and report writing for publications.
  • Conduct advanced statistical analyses and produce comprehensive statistical reports.
  • Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the Derby CTSU
