Job Description:

Senior Market Data Engineer - Algorithmic Trading - Fully Remote
A proprietary algorithmic trading firm who manage the entire trading cycle from software development to strategy creation and algorithm coding are on the lookout for a Senior Market Data Engineer to join their team.
What will the role be doing?
Design, develop, and maintain high-performance data storage systems for capturing and managing large volumes of historical market data from multiple exchanges, brokers, and vendors with robust validation, cleansing, and normalisation processes
Build internal tools and integrations that provide research teams with easy access to historical data while collaborating with quantitative researchers and traders to optimise data retrieval systems for backtesting and strategy development
Develop scalable, cost-efficient solutions with sophisticated versioning and reconciliation capabilities that ensure regulatory compliance, data integrity, and efficient querying for growing data volumes
What are we looking for:
Commercial experience with financial instruments and markets (equities, futures, options, forex) and understanding of historical data usage in algorithmic trading
Familiarity with market data formats (MDP, ITCH, FIX, SWIFT, proprietary exchange APIs) and market data providers
Strong programming skills in Python (Go/Rust is a nice to have)
Experience with ETL processes and data pipeline architecture for cleaning, normalising, and validating large datasets
Commercial experience building and maintaining large-scale time series or historical market data systems in financial services
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail for ensuring data quality and reliability
