It is a busy and exciting time at the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). The landscape for managing, sharing and using information and data is changing rapidly. We need an innovative, accessible and consistent information governance approach to enable public service delivery across the GM City Region.


We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Information Governance Officer to join our team and lead on driving forward internal Information Governance compliance.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure the team manages Freedom of Information Requests, Environmental Information Regulations requests and Individual Access Rights requests in a timely manner, meeting statutory deadlines and facilitating effective reporting processes.
  • Take an active role in organisational information security incident management processes and implement measures to proactively improve resilience to data breaches and information security incidents.
  • Advise where appropriate on key accountability documentation such as DPIAs and facilitate the accurate logging and coordination of requests within the team.
  • Provide bespoke advice on specific projects to ensure compliance with the data protection framework, including lawful basis, transparency requirements, privacy notices and records management.
  • Accountable to one of the Information Governance Leads, provide assurance over the management of business-as-usual processes.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience managing FOI, EIR and individual access rights requests within a complex organisation and meeting statutory deadlines.
  • Experience managing a team or reaching a career stage ready for this challenge.
  • Passionate Information Governance professional who embraces working within a dynamic service in an exciting and changeable political environment.
