Innovid is the leading independent omnichannel ad tech platform, empowering marketers to create, deliver, measure, and optimize ad-supported experiences that people love. In 2025, Innovid and Flashtalking merged to create a transparent, scalable alternative to big-tech, walled-gardens, and point solutions across CTV, digital, linear, and social channels. As part of Mediaocean, Innovid is tied into the industry’s core ad infrastructure for omnichannel planning, buying, and billing.

We are proud to lead the industry with our innovation, intelligence, and independence as the company best-suited to power the future of advertising.About the role

We’re building something big. The Optimize team is a new, fast-moving group within Innovid, focused on transforming how our clients make media and business decisions—through smarter data and machine learning.

We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist who's excited to go beyond the typical playbook. In this role, you'll be at the heart of innovation—working hands-on across multiple high-impact projects and clients. You'll partner with a talented crew of engineers, analysts, and product managers to prototype cutting-edge models, build scalable solutions, and turn ideas into reality.

You are likely to have at least 5+ years working experience, a relevant degree, with the practical tools and techniques for manipulating and exploring vast quantities of data, with the objective of finding and delivering new and valuable insights.

The role has been designed with room for growth where you can choose to have a different focus whether that be in product research, development, or client-facing projects. We’re looking for future leaders—people who want to shape the direction of our products and the growth of our data team. Line management in addition to project leadership responsibilities is part of the expected progression of the role and would be dependent on a candidate’s experience and career goals.

Innovid provides a hybrid working experience with an office in Edinburgh. Remote workers will be considered, though being based in Edinburgh would be beneficial.

Responsibilities:

  • Completing high impact projects from beginning to end, working autonomously with minimum supervision but high accountability. Scope & stage work into well-defined milestones; make accurate timeline estimates and deliver to those estimates
  • Use SQL and/or Python (Jupyter notebooks) to prepare data, perform exploratory data analysis, evaluate different modeling approaches, tell a story through effective visualizations, and make recommendations to generate valuable solutions that meet our clients’ needs, often in combination with rich third-party datasets. Note: we will also consider candidates who are proficient in R.
  • Work within the common tech stack which includes (though may not be limited to) AWS, Snowflake, DBT, Jupyter notebooks, Spark, Mongo, and Postgres among others. Documentation and task tracking typically live in JIRA/Confluence.
  • Proactively engage in problem solving, fault finding, addressing issues in the data or approaches as they arise.
  • Communication (visual, verbal, and written) of findings to a variety of audiences including colleagues and clients, both technical and non-technical.
  • Mentor junior members of the team.
  • Proactively identifies and proposes strategies around team process improvements

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Post-graduate degree or advanced training in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or other highly quantitative field and minimum of 5+ years’ work experience (postdoctoral research incl).
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical and analytical techniques and concepts such as sampling methods, regression, properties of distributions, weighting sample-based data, statistical tests and proper usage, etc. and experience with real-world applications.
  • NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, MLlib, scikit-learn, and other common data and machine learning related libraries.
  • Working knowledge of data structures, databases, and ETL processes.
  • Demonstrable history of devising and overseeing data-centered projects.
  • Must be proactive, self-motivated, and detail oriented.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills shown through probing and asking relevant questions.
  • Able to learn quickly and juggle multiple projects with moving deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Capacity to foster a healthy, stimulating work environment that frequently harnesses teamwork.
  • Knowledge of AWS environments and services would be beneficial.
  • Experience in either media/digital marketing or a consultancy with a marketing science environment would be highly valued.

What we will offer you:

  • 35 days holiday (including public holidays)
  • Pension plan
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Life insurance
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Private medical insurance with Vitality
  • Training & Development sessions with our in-house L&D Platform
  • Unlimited office snacks
  • RSU's (Restricted Stock Units) plan
  • Offices in major cities around the world and a cross-company collaboration unlike anywhere else.

Pre-Employment Checks for Data Science Jobs: DBS, References & Right-to-Work and more Explained

Pre-employment screening in data science reflects the discipline's unique position at the intersection of statistical analysis, machine learning innovation, and strategic business intelligence. Data scientists often have privileged access to comprehensive datasets, proprietary algorithms, and business-critical insights that form the foundation of organisational strategy and competitive positioning. The data science industry operates within complex regulatory frameworks spanning GDPR, sector-specific data protection requirements, and emerging AI governance regulations. Data scientists must demonstrate not only technical competence in statistical modelling and machine learning but also deep understanding of research ethics, data privacy principles, and the societal implications of algorithmic decision-making. Modern data science roles frequently involve analysing personally identifiable information, financial data, healthcare records, and sensitive business intelligence across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks simultaneously. The combination of analytical privilege, predictive capabilities, and strategic influence makes thorough candidate verification essential for maintaining compliance, security, and public trust in data-driven insights and automated systems.
